ALDER CARE is a home for palliative and geriatric care.

I am responsible for patient care and treatment outcome. Taking care of geriatric is not only about physical health but also covering emotional aspect. I was involved with daily visits and improving the quality of life. We also had a great team of physicians, specialists and health care providers to discuss and care for complex cases. The main objective is to reach probable diagnosis by taking detailed history, investigation, examination. Also, making sure to do daily progress notes and discharge summaries.

Dealing with patients with chronic conditions and substance abuse require counseling and care to make them cope with life. To be a part of community health clinic to provide high quality care for financially underprivileged patients was a great exposure.

WORKED IN A 340 BEDDED AND EXPANDING HOSPITAL IN BANGALORE CITY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL MEDICINE WITH INTEGRATED SPECIALITIES.

A great hospital where my personal development in medical knowledge was influenced. I had to team with other physicians, specialists and health care providers to provide well-rounded care for complex cases. I was assigned to take patient histories, complaints and current symptoms and also to thoroughly examine patients in-order to asses health and identify conditions. Counseling patients and their attenders, managing wards was an integral part of the job. I was also a part of hospital's 24-hour on-call services where I had to manage patients and their concerns by ordering and executing various tests, analyses and diagnostic images. To be involved in palliative care and its management paved way for better care.

We often shared medical knowledge with health care professionals and physicians to develop each other.

I had to do compulsory 12 month rotation in all specialties in top medical college with a capacity of 1,835 beds. I was rotated in MEDICINE, SURGERY, EMERGENCY MEDICINE, OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY, PEDIATRICS, PSYCHIATRY, ANESTHESIA AND OTHER SPECIALITIES.

Majority of the work was about history taking, assessing patients, thorough clinical examination and making differential diagnosis. Also discussing differentials with seniors in team and carrying out treatment including rehabilitations and follow ups. Communication with patients and families were an integral part of routine.

I also learnt, assisted and independently performed diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as surgical lipoma removal, debridements and paracentesis. Also assisted in various surgeries and procedures (BKA, Skin Grafts, appendectomy, aseptic dressings, remove drains, skin suturing and suture removal).
