Prof. Karanam Pushpanadham is a Professor of Educational Administration and the Head, Department of Educational Administration at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, India. He is the Officer of Special Duty for the PhD programs in the University and also the University Coordinator for implementing National Education Policy-2020. He is nominated by the Ministry of Education, Government of India as a Member of Western Regional Committee of National Council of Teacher Education. He is the member of Advisory Committee for the Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT), Jammu. He is also the member of Senate of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
He is currently the coordinator of the Research Network on Digitalization in Higher Education at the Asia Europe Meeting for Lifelong Learning Hub and representing ASEM LLL Hub at the DAAD.
He holds a Ph.D. in Education with specialization in Educational Administration.. Over the course of his distinguished academic career, he has served in various capacities and contributing significantly to teaching, research, and academic administration. He has also headed the Department of Educational Administration at the university and has been actively engaged in academic and administrative committees at both national and international levels.
His areas of academic interest include educational administration and management, leadership in education, educational policy and planning, teacher professional development, ICT in education, and higher education reforms. He has authored and edited several books and has published numerous research papers in reputed national and international journals. His research has contributed to advancing understanding of educational leadership, policy, and governance in India and beyond. He has also served as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on several research projects funded by national and international agencies, including UNESCO and UGC.
Prof. Pushpanadham has presented papers at international conferences across Asia, Europe, and the United States, and has delivered invited lectures at prominent academic and policy forums including ASEF, ASEM LLL Hub, UNESCO and the Association of Indian Universities. He has organized and chaired several national and international seminars and workshops, focusing on issues of education policy, administration, and professional development. His expertise has been widely recognized, and he has received several awards and fellowships for his academic and professional contributions.
As a doctoral supervisor, Prof. Pushpanadham has guided a large number of Ph.D. scholars and postgraduate dissertations, shaping the next generation of researchers and practitioners in education. He is actively involved in curriculum development at both university and national levels, contributing to UGC and NCERT initiatives, and has played a key role in discussions around the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. His contributions extend to capacity-building programmes for educational leaders, teachers, and administrators, thereby strengthening institutional effectiveness and professional learning communities.
Internationally, Prof. Pushpanadham has been associated with ASEAM LLL Hub and other organizations as an educational consultant, contributing to policy dialogues and capacity-building initiatives in education. He is a member of several professional bodies such as the Indian Association of Educational Administration, the Comparative Education Society of India, and the International Council of Education for Teaching. Through his teaching, research, and professional engagements, he has made a significant impact on educational administration and policy, nationally and internationally.
