On May 6, 2015 I was congratulated on becoming a finalist for the 2015-2016 Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Under which I obtained international U.S. visa. My participation was also contingent upon a U.S. host family and host school being secured prior to my departure. This scholarship was funded by the Government of the United States of America. It included:
Round-trip travel from my home city to the United States;
Placement with a U.S. host family and school for 10 to 11 months, beginning in August 2015;
Orientation gatherings;
A monthly spending allowance;
Health and accident coverage; and
Program activities and materials.
Acceptance of this scholarship implied my agreement to follow the two-year homestay requirement of my J-1 U.S. Visa and to return to my home country upon completion of the YES program. The selection process for the program has been highly competitive, and I am proud of my accomplishment. The YES Consortium (a group of non-profit organizations funded by the U.S. State Department to implement the YES program and comprised of American Councils, AFS, AMIDEAST, iEARN and IRIS), the partner organizations supporting YES student placements in the United States, and the U.S. Department of State, congratulated me on my outstanding achievement on becoming a YES participant in 2015-2016.
