I worked in HDU as a senior staff nurse and this is what my day in the unit looks like. The unit is based in SRI LAKSHMI Hospital, it is a ten bedded HDU with medical and surgical patients or those requiring specialist monitoring and treatment.
The School Nurse is a priority position within any school in order to ensure a complete service of care to the students and the maintenance of a healthy school environment. To assist the School Doctor in the physical/medical examination of students, the first aid and
emergency care, the prevention and control of communicable diseases and the maintenance of all records and reports. To monitor the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene within the school, be available to staff to address immediate medical needs, establish procedures for providing first aid and refer accidents and illness appropriately to the School Doctor or hospitals
Assisting the medical team to resuscitate the patient by giving CPR. • Inserting continuous bladder drainage for the critically ill patients & patients with incontinence and retention of urine. • Inserting Ryle's tube for critically ill patients for feeding to maintaining nutrition and administering oral medications. • Inserting intra venous cannula for administering IV fluids and IV medications. • Analysing the electrolytes and correcting. • Proper collection and sending of blood and other body fluids for laboratory investigations • Hourly monitoring of vital signs, spo2, central venous pressure, left atrial pressure, pulmonary arterial pressure, cardiac output etc. Caring the babies on incubator• Reliving pain by administrating analgesics and sedatives. • Maintaining intake and output chart
