Certified Patient Assistant/ CNA. Unit Clerk/ Secretary
University of Louisville Mary & Elizabeth Hospital
05.2023 - 01.2025
At this hospital, I went back to bedside working on a three-split hall unit, one being hospice, the other two med-surg. I assisted in patient needs, charting what the patients did and did not do. On other shifts, I was on the desk, dialing, receiving, and transferring calls, handling discharges, and new admissions. Going over with the charge nurse for PCAs and nurse assignments, making sure the acuity was split and fair, or to the best of our ability. At this location, I had received a plethora of nominations for the BEE award each quarter that passed. The unit I worked on, I got with the manager and we enforced a new direction that made sure everyone held each other accountable, no matter the job title, to ensure not only a safe work environment but most importantly, the care of the patients was met.
