Work History

Trainee Petrophysicist

Hindustan Oil Exploration Company
Chennai, India
08.2025 - Current
  • Worked on open-hole log interpretation (GR, resistivity, density, neutron, sonic, PEF) for carbonate and clastic reservoirs across Cambay, Assam–Arakan, KG and Mumbai Offshore basins
  • Handled log data preparation for interpretation, including cleaning, depth matching, splicing and merging multi-run LWD and wireline logs using Geolog
  • Estimated shale volume, porosity and water saturation using standard methods (Archie, Simandoux, Indonesian, Juhasz)
  • Calculated permeability (Wyllie–Rose) and supported net reservoir / net pay evaluation through cut-off analysis
  • Monitored real-time drilling parameters (ROP, gas, RPM, SPM, SPP, hook load) during field operations on 3 wells (2 Cambay basin, 1 Assam–Arakan basin)
  • Described lithology from drill cuttings and checked for hydrocarbon shows using UV fluorescence and basic chemical tests
  • Was present during LWD, MWD, wireline logging, NMR, CBL-VDL and RCI operations, observing tool runs, calibration checks and general wellsite workflow
  • Helped with basic log correlation (GR, resistivity) and supported seniors in identifying formation tops and pressure points
  • Noted operational details like tight holes, repeat passes, logging speed and downtime, and shared updates with the team
  • Assisted in formation pressure testing and sample depth selection with guidance from senior petrophysicists
  • Managed and organized data from LWD, MWD, wireline and mud logging, and shared required datasets with internal teams and partners
