- I am extremely thankful that I was able to get the opportunity to work as an intern so early in the program. This job has given me OR exposure which has allowed me to have more confidence as a surgical tech student. I’ve assisted the surgical team in OR preparation and turnover. Other team members have taught me proper maintenance of the sterile field during procedures. I learned how to identify and organize basic surgical instruments along with getting familiar with multiple supplies during case cart preparation.

- This job played a big role in me realizing my passion was in healthcare. Going into work knowing that you’re helping someone can be very motivational and make you love your job. I learned a great sense of knowledge of infection prevention, sterile precautions and correct patient positioning. There were times that this job was stressful due to short staffing, which taught me calmness during these times along with adjusting to fast-paced settings. Which I feel is important to carry into the surgical setting because you never know what case you might get.
