Coreresponsibilities

  • Provide a high standard of person-centred care across a range of clinical environments.
  • Conduct ongoing patient assessments and adjust care plans to reflect the patient’s current and emerging care needs.
  • Plan and facilitate nursing activities in accordance with patient needs and unit policies and protocols.
  • Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Mentor and train student and graduate nurses, supporting them to enhance their professional capabilities.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, adapting them to meet the patient’s ongoing needs.
  • Engage with patients and their significant others to provide education and support in managing the patient’s condition.
  • Administer medications in accordance with the Registered Nurse scope of practice.
  • Care for patient wounds, including wound drains and drain removals.
  • Continually monitor patient conditions, reporting any changes in patient status to the treating practitioner.
  • Contribute to research and continuous improvement programs to elevate the standard of care provided to all patients.
  • Manage patients with tracheostomies and other airway support.
  • Ensure effective pain management in alignment with hospital protocols.
  • Provide support to the emergency response team during MET calls.
  • Facilitate the safe, efficient, and effective use of resources, including contributing to forward planning in work unit.
  • Collect specimens including blood, swab, sputum and stools and despatch them to the laboratory for testing.
  • Undertake ongoing professional development and clinical education programs.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records in accordance with all confidentiality requirements.
  • Engage in regular practice reviews to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain a safe and OH&S compliant work environment and practised in accordance with AHPRA guidelines.
