Ang as a drumline instructor at Terre Haute South shortly after I graduated from high school. I worked as a drumline technicain for 3 years, until I was promoted to head of percussion, which I worked an additional 2 years until I left my role in april 2026. Working in this role taught me a multitude of valuable lessons pertaining to my role as an educator and leader. I went from being a freshly graduated individual who was used to being lead and having decisions made for me, to being someone others looked to for guidance and leadership. Some of my responsibilities as head of percussion included planning our curriculum for the fall and winter seasons. Forming a budget for operational, logistical, and material funds, offering guidance and leadership to youth outside the scope of the musical goals of the organization.
Eclipse Drum and Bugle Corps is a drum corps based out of Indianapolis. A drum corps is an independent competitive marching music program that operates and competes separate from a school cooperation. Eclipse's mission is to offer students a higher level marching arts education, while providing valuable life lessons that they are able to adapt and apply to their home life post-season. I have worked at Eclipse for 2 years and I have been able to elevate all the teachings I gained as a employee at Terre Haute South. Here at Eclipse my role as a Drumline Caption Manager includes responsibilities such as offering a world class experience to those under my instruction, planning my department budget and insuring I am not over spending in areas such as payroll, educational materials, travel expenses, etc, and planning my sections curriculum ahead and insuring our goals align with the other departments. Eclipse operates primarily through the months of June- August, with breaks inbetween meetings.
I started working at Red Lobster as a senior and high school, and worked at the same location most of my way through college. Here I learned valuable skills and ideas like the value of team work, how to confidently articulate ideas, how multi-task various responsibilities efficiently, etc.
I worked as a associate at Walmart as I finished my last year of college at Indiana State University. The skills I practiced while working there included organization, time management, multi tasking, working with customers, finding labor work flow, working in a diverse crew, mitigating conflict, and problem solving.
