Project: Secure and Scalable Linux Infrastructure.

Role: Linux System Administrator.

Responsibilities:

• Check processes that are consuming more resources than expected using the tools: TOP, SAR, and free -m.
• Monitoring CPU utilization for critical processes like 'JAVA,' 'httpd,' and 'mysqld' using tools such as TOP, SAR, and free -m.
• Taking a system backup to the remote server using 'rsync' tools, and compressing the backup with tar (with gzip, bzip2).
• Installing a patch for the system using yum and periodically checking for updates.
• Monitoring network traffic that is accessing the server using tools like tcpdump and Wireshark.
• Configuring the firewall/iptables by adding rules for incoming traffic.
• Writing a shell script [bash] to automate tasks such as transferring logs and taking backups.
• Ensure network connectivity throughout the company’s LAN and WAN using tools such as ping, traceroute, IP, netstat, and ARP. Administrators, servers, laptops, printers, desktops, and other devices troubleshoot the problems.
• Changing assigned custom permissions using setfacl, chmod, etc.
• Configuring IP addresses for the interface using ifconfig, and sometimes using a static IP by editing the ifcfg-eth file.
• Mounting and unmounting partitions as per the requirements using the mount and unmount commands.
• Clearing the cache and buffer after approaching the application team using echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_cache.
• Stop unwanted services on a server using the kill command to protect the server.
• Creating a user, deleting a user, and setting permissions using useradd, userdel, and setfacl.
• creating a group and adding a member using chgrp, usermod, groupdel, etc.

Project: Server Migration and Performance Tuning.

Role: Junior Linux Administrator.

Responsibilities:

• Migrated legacy servers to newer CentOS/RHEL versions.
• Tuned kernel parameters for performance (sysctl.conf).
• Implemented LVM for flexible storage management.
• Set up and maintained Apache/Nginx web servers.

Project: Enterprise Server Support and Monitoring.

Role: Tier 1 Support Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Handled L1 tickets for Red Hat and Ubuntu-based systems, monitored server health using tools like Nagios and Zabbix, performed basic troubleshooting (disk space, CPU load, service restarts), and documented recurring issues and created a knowledge base.

• I worked for ITnT System as a Desktop Support Engineer in a team of 20 members.
• Support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment, while ensuring optimal workstation performance.
• Installed, configured and maintained computer hardware, software and peripherals.
• Collaborated with IT team members to share knowledge and improve support processes.
