Interests

RESEARCH GRANTS Grant from CSIR: , I was a member of the team headed by Dr Lalji Singh in a project aimed at identifying markers for cancers. This was a New Millennium Technology Leadership Initiative (NMITLI) project (Rs.875 lakhs) for a period of five years (initially three years and extended) from 2001 to 2006 from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. We worked on brain tumors (gliomas) and oral cancer (buccal mucosa) tissues. Grant from DBT: I was awarded a research grant (Rs. 32 lakhs) from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), New Delhi to carry out studies on” Identification of membrane proteins in an Antarctic bacterium Pseudomonas syringae Lz4W” for funding to the Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, India for a period of four years (Sep 2006 to Aug 2010). Grant from DST: I was awarded a research grant (Rs 31.8 Lakhs) from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi to carry out research studies on “Characterization of membrane vesicles of Bacteria: designing protein/DNA transporters” for a period of three years ( July 2010 to June 2013). Grant from CSIR: (2012 to 2017): Antibiotic resistance of bacteria: The role of membrane vesicles. Integrated NextGen approaches in health, disease, and environmental toxicity (INDEPTH). This project is under the 12th five-year plan. Eight CSIR laboratories CCMB, CIMAP, IICB, NCL, NEERI, NIIST, CLRI, and IGIB are participating with IITR as nodal lab. I was assigned to coordinate the component of research activities from CCMB. The total project cost at CSIR-CCMB is 221 lakhs.
