Work History

Research Intern- Khorana Scholarship

St.Jude Children's Research Hospital
06.2023 - 01.2024
  • The primary aim of this research was to find out the impact of Integrator complex subunits on synthetic transcription factor mediated Frataxin expression using siRNA mediated gene silencing and pull down assays
  • Performed mammalian cell culture techniques to seed, maintain FRDA diseased and healthy cell lines(fibroblast and B-lymphocytes) followed by synthetic compound treatment
  • Conducted siRNA mediated gene silencing for all 14 subunits of Integrator complex and ChIP-qPCR for checking enrichment of selected subunits followed by data analysis using RT-qPCR, gene ontology and network studies
  • Collaborated with lab members and other lab in other projects
  • Conclusion: The study illustrated that some subunit of Integrator Complex play a significantly positive role in synthetic gene regulation process of FRDA while others play the negative role

Research Intern

CSIR- CFTRI
01.2022 - 06.2022
  • The primary aim of this research was to study the effects of different drying and extraction methods on bioactives and pigment profile followed by product formulation of pigmented parts of Clitoria ternatea L
  • Flowers
  • Carried out different drying method and extraction with varied solvents for the floral part
  • Conducted out antioxidant assays (DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP), bioactive analysis using assays (TFC and TPC) and various chromatographic and spectrophotometric techniques (UHPLC, HRMS), and pigment analysis using pH differential method and HPLC
  • Analyzed and calculated the yield of each type of drying and extraction method separately for determining the optimum criteria
  • Prepared two RTS-beverage and a spray-dried powder of the floral extract with maltodextrin as a carrier agent was prepared which can be later incorporated into other food model systems to impart the natural color
  • Conclusion: The study successfully identified the best drying and extraction method for Clitoria Ternatea L., with the most nutrient retention and highest yield

Research Intern- MITACS Globalink Research Internship-2021

University of Saskatchewan
07.2021 - 10.2021
  • This project aimed to analyze the role of three ferroptosis pathway genes namely Iron Accumulation Driver, Suppressor and Inhibitor on 12 types of cancer which can serve as a hallmark for cancer diagnosis
  • Determined differentially expressed gene (DEGs) in all 12 types of Cancer and identified common upregulated gene related to ferroptosis pathway
  • Analyzed the pairwise gene correlation pattern and generated a PPI network between the DEG and other human protein
  • Conclusion: The study found correlated gene-pairs involved in ferroptosis which can act as hallmarks for all cancer types

Research Intern

Amity University
06.2020 - 01.2021
  • This in-silico study aimed to identify inhibitory compounds targeting Mycobacterial copper transport protein
  • Carried out homology Modeling for Mycobacterium membrane protein
  • Screened chemical compound against McTb from 1500 small molecules of the Diverse-lib using MTiOpenScreen
  • Performed ADMET studies and molecular docking for screened compound
  • Collaborated with lab members and published the study in renowned international journal
  • Conclusion: The study proposed these compounds as an effective candidate to reduce the growth of M
  • Tuberculosis and may also assist present a novel therapeutic approach for Tuberculosis

Research Intern- Young Science Leader Program

Amity University
04.2020 - 11.2020
  • This study aims to evaluate the inhibitory efficiency of the organic acids and phenolic compounds present in Brassica oleracea (Tronchuda Cabbage) against spike glycoprotein in SARS-CoV-2
  • Identified novel phytomolecules from Brassica oleracea following lipinski's rule for this study and conducted protein-ligand docking studies
  • Prepared the manuscript which is published in international peer journal
  • Collaborated with bio-informaticians to perform molecular dynamics simulation
  • Conclusion: The findings from molecular docking and MD simulation studies proposes two phyto-molecules from Tronchuda cabbage possess potential inhibitory capacity against spike glycoprotein trimer of SARS-CoV-2 and could be further taken up as lead targets for drug discovery
