As an expert in digital transformation and innovation, Irshad is a hands-on leader who utilizes cutting-edge tools and frameworks, including design thinking, change management, innovation playbook, and critical analytical thinking. He has a proven track record of influencing management boards and driving positive change through technology. He has managed budgets up to $100 million and led global teams of 250+ people.
Havells is a leading company in the Fast-Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG) sector, with an annual revenue of USD $1.7 billion. Their products are used in over 40 countries, with 100+ sites and 12 manufacturing plants.
As the leader of digital transformation initiatives for all five companies within the Havells group, including Havells, Lloyd, Crabtree, Standard, and QRG hospitals, I successfully managed a team of ~100 and achieved the following key deliverables:
Key deliverables
- Conceptualized cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, Industry 4.0, Service Uberization, and Supply Chain, and presented their business benefits to the board members.
- Enabled the Sales and Marketing teams to reduce their field force by 300 employees by implementing AI/ML-based SFA, POS, D365 CRM, dealer app, retailer app, electrician app, and consumer app.
- Architected and implemented a state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 plant in Ghilot (featured on Discovery India) and digitized nine other plants, which increased OEE by 20% and greatly improved efficiency.
- Digitized warehouses and integrated them with a centralized ERP system, providing near real-time stock visibility and improving inward and outward processes.
- Automated repeatable processes in several departments using Robotic Process Automation, saving manpower and increasing employee satisfaction.
- Worked closely with CRI/R&D function to help them build IoT products, which generated revenue and provided competitive advantage.
- Transformed IT from reactive to proactive and metrics-based using ITIL, PMP, Agile, Scrum, and set up a delivery support center with 24x7 support.
- Led the Lloyd acquisition and successfully integrated it with Havells.
- Provided transparency and business insights into Sales and financials by implementing business analytics, dashboards, and big data for all businesses.
- Implemented Dev-Sec-Ops and built state-of-the-art cyber security architectures which covered IT, IoT, and OT networks, and implemented a comprehensive real-time cyber security maturity metric system.
- Migrated legacy technologies to the latest ones, such as SAP HANA, Vistex, Lumira, Fiori, and Office 365.
- Oversaw HIS deployment in the hospitals.
- Designed a multi-cloud strategy and oversaw its successful implementation, including private, public Azure and AWS, and SAAS.
- Designed and oversaw the implementation of a digital infrastructure program to replace old technologies at each plant, data center, warehouse, and sales office with modern technologies with automation.
- Played a pivotal role in India's largest acquisition in the pharmaceutical industry, Sunpharma's acquisition of Ranbaxy, by reorganizing and harmonizing policies, creating a combined technology vision, and achieving cost savings.
- Successfully led global consolidation initiatives that resulted in savings of $10 million, including Global data center, Global Network, GSD, MPS, AD Consolidation, Email Consolidation, VC & UC.
- Spearheaded key initiatives in Plant and R&D operations, such as Paperless lab, Scada, MES, LIMS, LMS, DMS, Electronic lab notebook, and big data.
- Managed the migration of multiple complex ERP systems into one global SAP S/4 HANA system for all companies in the group.
- Instrumental in harmonizing computer system validation for all group of companies to comply with GxP requirements.
- Established an in-house global delivery center to provide 24x7 L1 support for Infra & App.
- Conceptualized a Global Information Security strategy, policy, architecture, roadmap, and oversaw its implementation to secure the organization.
- Standardized IT governance, projects, operations, and security based on industry standards (COBIT, PMI, ITIL, ISO-27001).
- Served as a member of the Ranbaxy consent decree program.
As the leader of IT operations for Sun pharma’s global network of companies, I was responsible for ensuring the highest standards of performance, security, and compliance, resulting in significant cost savings, enhanced efficiency, and improved organizational alignment.
Exposure: 18 countries, 90K employees, 1036 sites over 171 cities, and a team of ver 200, with a budget of ~$ 100 million
- Lead strategic global vision to setup Global IT COE in APAC. I was instrumental in setting up new APAC IT COE in India after careful due diligence of multiple APAC countries. This COE now employs more than 5,000 employees.
Agilent Technologies is the world's largest electronic and life science testing and measurement product manufacturing company with $7 billion in annual revenue. It is headquartered in Santa Clara, USA. I held dual responsibility as a) India IT Head and b) Head of Global UC for 110 sites in 25 countries with a $20 million global budget.
Executive Achievements and Contribution:
- Assisted global IT leadership in establishing an in-house COE in India, implementing global IT policies, technologies, standards, and ensuring successful adoption.
- Represented India Technology as a member of the India executive management council.
- Helped Agilent expand and establish offices in India, including Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, and consolidating three Gurgaon offices to a centralized campus in Manesar.
- Successfully managed In-Country compliance for Agilent's legal entity (ATI) registration under DOT-OSP category.
- Achieved $20 million in annual savings by re-engineering UC technology and processes based on Cisco, Tangoe TEM and CDR.
- Re-engineered processes in partnership with WPS to save $1 million annually.
- Led the Global Network outsourcing RFP and drove business partners to run efficient operations and projects, resulting in cost savings.
