  • Geometric and FE modeling for an FRP Aboveground Horizontal Water Storage Tank
  • Software used: ANSYS WB
  • Problem Statement: The Focus of this project is to check whether thickness of shell/end cap and lamination thickness provided for tank shell to head connection and cradle/shell attachment suffices to withstand the sustained loads in operating conditions for the tank subjected to Longitudinal and Transverse Loading
  • Project Summary: Drawings were studied in Detail provided by the client
  • Geometric Modeling was carried out in Ansys Design Modeler
  • FE Modeling was carried out in Ansys Mechanical; a Tetrahedral Mesh was generated and a contact sizing is performed at the vicinity junction of nozzle and tank interface
  • This Aboveground Horizontal Tank is been supported by 3 Saddles, out of which two of them are of sliding type, which has a provision to slide along the longitudinal length of the tank and other saddle is fixed
  • Obtained FEA results are validated by the Experiments carried
  • Performing Lifting Analysis for the Horizontal tank and to check the stresses at the lifting lug
