  • Mapping Landslides on the North Western Flank of the Lomond Hills in Scotland using Google Earth and other Photographic Data
  • This study aimed to map and study the effect of historic landslides in the north-western flank of Lomond Hills like the particular landslide that occurred on 11 to 12 August 2020 due to intense convective rainfall triggering heavy debris flows.
  • Furthermore, an LS Map for the whole of Lomond Hills is created using advanced tools of Geographic Information System (GIS). Six contributing factors of landslides namely elevation, slope, slope aspect, relative relief, drainage density, landslide geomorphology, and lithology are analyzed to develop the LS map from Weighed Overlay Method (WOM).
  • Weights for each factor are assigned using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) based on its influence on the landslide occurrence. The LS map generated four susceptible zones of landslides viz. High, Medium, Low, and Very Low.

  • Structural and Petrological Study of Chavaruppara Quarry
  • The study's main aim was to get familiar with the geologic field instruments. The area was surveyed, the environmental monitoring of the area revealed the presence of garnet biotite gneiss and charnockite.
  • The site was sillimanite free. Structural analysis investigations indicated that the area has experienced a high degree of deformation with evidence of joints, and foliations. Hence concluded that stress affects both structure and texture of rocks in the study areas.
