- Leading the backup and restore for cassandra. Created 1.5 year roadmap including reliability, efficiency, observability and alerting. Increased cassandra backups reliability by 80% and prevented multiple critical incidents in cassandra due to backups running.
- Stabilized the Cassandra backup and restore, reducing the alerts from 100+ to < 10, increasing the trust of customers in backups.
- Spearheaded the design and solutioning for Cassandra backups causing disk space issues for cassandra DB.
- Proposed and led the redesign of Cassandra backups ecosystem, thereby increasing the backup success rate by 80%.
- Reduced the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of Cassandra backups from 5 days to 1 day, dramatically enhancing Uber's capability to support recovery.
- Proposed and led the design for Point in Time Restore for Cassandra, which helped in further reducing the RPO to hours instead of 1 day.
- Led the initiative to optimize the core and memory consumption of the stateless service which lead to savings of ~300K USD per annum.
