I am a third-year law student at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, who believes that the true understanding of law comes from both books and people. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to experience law from two very different angles — one at the Barasat District Court, and the other at Sarani NGO.During my internship at the District Court under Advocate Dhananjoy Dutta, I observed how justice actually unfolds — from the drafting table to the courtroom floor. I worked on case briefs, affidavits, and petitions, assisted during hearings, and understood the importance of clarity, patience, and procedural discipline. It was my first real glimpse into advocacy as a living process, not just a subject to be studied. On the other hand, my internship with Sarani NGO taught me how law touches people at the grassroots level — through awareness, access, and empathy. From conducting field visits and surveys to assisting in legal and medical camps, I learned how social work and law often walk hand in hand. These two experiences together helped me grow both as a student and as a learner of life — someone who values precision in drafting, empathy in service, and sincerity in every task. I aim to continue learning from every opportunity that helps me connect legal knowledge with real-world practice.
Interned under Adv. Dhananjoy Dutta at the District Judges’ Court, Barasat, gained first-hand exposure to real courtroom practice and procedural work.
