Nicolas Deem

Currently I'm assigned to North District Late Shift Patrol where I patrol a beat and take calls along with conducting business and area checks as an FTO. I'm also a state certified firearms instructor and assist the department's range staff with firearms training and assist the range's armory with weapons maintenance.

When I left Lake Station Police Department, I was in charge of my own shift. I dealt with scheduling, employee issues, and took radio calls. I was also the lead firearms instructor where I ordered targets, ammunition, firearms, and range supplies. I was responsible for all the departments firearms training for both pistols and rifles. The department was a member of Northwest Regional SWAT that was a multi-jurisdictional team. As a member there, I was assigned to an entry team and was the lead firearms instructor.

I started me career at the Gary Police Department. I was assigned to patrol for the majority of my career here and spent the last year and half in the traffic unit. While in patrol, I took calls and patrolled my assigned area. While in traffic I investigated all kinds traffic crashes from minor crashes, to hit and runs, to fatals. I was also assigned to their part time SWAT team prior to it being disbanded.
