MYP PERSONAL PROJECT COORDINATION

  • Plan, design and implement a comprehensive orientation of the Personal Project (PP) among all relevant members of the school community – students, administration, faculty and parents
  • Collaborate with the Head of Libraries, Head of Early and Middle Years, and MYP Coordinator to ensure that students have been taught the necessary research skills. Conduct information sessions for students on research, academic writing, and academic honesty. Develop a “Designers Space” so that student personal projects are profiled within the school
  • Meet with each student once at the planning stage and again at the time the student is writing up their final reflection, ensuring that the student is:
  • - Assigned to an appropriately qualified Personal Project supervisor who is a teacher/educator within the school
  • - Choosing appropriate design methods which conform to the regulations outlined within the PP Guide
  • - Documenting sources according to MYP PP criteria, journaling the process, and documenting their MYP PP journey
  • - Making the most of their supervision and reflection sessions
  • - Ensuring that the final version of the Personal Project is checked and proofread prior to submission on IBIS.
  • Lead and support supervisors and students with the general and subject-specific information, and guidelines for the extended essay.
  • - Provide appropriate training for supervisors
  • - Provide supervisors with recent extended essay subject reports for the subject
  • - To ensure that Supervisors know how to:
  • · Plan their support and monitor progress so that assigned students remain focused, creative, and on-track
  • · Discuss the MYP Personal Project expectations with the students and supervisors
  • · Check that the MYP PP is the candidate’s own work

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. With the MYP Coordinator, set internal deadlines for the stages of the Personal Project

2. Monitor deadlines and send timely reminders to both students and their MYP PP Supervisors

3. Monitor Managebac and documentation of staff-student interaction.

4. Work closely with the MYP Coordinator to ensure that all MYP students successfully submit their Extended Essays according to the deadlines and criteria specified by the IB

5. Create and update an MYP Personal Project Guide which includes process, due dates, tips, resources, and assessment criteria.
