- Performed research in animal models (mice) and explored anti-obesity, anti-diabetics, and gut-barrier protective effects of 50% ethanolic extract of Mangifera indica seed kernel (MESK) in high-fat diet-induced obese mouse model. Outcomes of thesis work demonstrated that MESK is a powerful nutraceutical and can be used in management of metabolic syndrome.
- Wrote research papers, reports, reviews and summaries related with obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.
- As part of doctoral training, worked as teaching assistant for several subjects and taught both undergraduate (B.E.) and postgraduate students (M.E., integrated MSc ) at BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad campus. Mentored several first degree (B.E.) and higher degree (M.E.) thesis students during their thesis work.
- Member of a highly motivated and innovative team led by Prof. Suman Kapur (BITS-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus) that developed low-cost glucometer for mass screening of diabetics. My responsibilities were to design an innovative glucose-specific lateral-flow strip for glucose detection in point-of-care settings. Project was funded by Indian Council of Medical Research, Govt. of India. Glucometer developed by out team was launched by Dr. Gulam Nabi Azad (Health minister of India) in January 2014.
- Member of another team that developed low-cost point of care testing device for measuring lipid-profile in whole blood. Responsibilities were to optimize lateral-flow enzyme based strip for measuring total cholesterol and triglycerides. Project was funded by Defence Research and Development Organization, India.
- Worked in project funded by Central Pollution Control Board,Govt. of India. Project was aimed to understand antibiotic pollution in Musi River (Hyderabad, India) and also explored presence of antibiotic resistance bacterial species in Musi river. Findings of study demonstrated that extremely drug resistance bacterial species were widely present in Musi river. Findings were submitted to National Green Tribunal, Delhi Bench.
