- Optum is a healthcare product-based organization where we handle PHI (Protected Health Information) data and aim to enhance healthcare services for our clients.
Our product includes healthcare provider and payer analytical (OLAP) solutions that utilize a medallion architecture to perform analytical activities. We focus on creating innovative solutions to analyze provider performance and hospital profitability. - I work in the Data Acquisition team, where we write code to extract data from clients' environments, such as SQL Server and Oracle and cloud environments like Cloud and AWS.
- After ingesting the data into our Azure environment, we use Apache Notebooks with Scala, PySpark, and Spark SQL to load and validate the data. I have developed Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines to orchestrate processes. These pipelines are responsible for file movement, data type validation, parquet conversion, and executing notebooks. Also, used triggers to run the pipeline when a file is dropped, used complex transformations.
- Additionally, we extract data from cross-cloud HCC environments, including transferring data from AWS to Azure using SHIR (Self-hosted Integration Runtime). And I have managed a vast amount of healthcare data with complete security. We create complex Spark SQL queries to process large volumes of data efficiently.
Performance tuning is a critical aspect of my work, ensuring the code utilizes minimal resources and delivers output quickly. - Our team consists of five members, and I play a pivotal role as the senior resource. I am actively involved in client technical scoping calls, infrastructure setup, client machine configuration, and deploying tools on client systems.
- I write complex SQL queries to extract data from various source systems such as Paragon, NextGen, Athena, Meditech, and Epic. I have also handled complex systems like Cerner by creating CCL (Cerner Command Language) queries.
- In my previous projects, I worked with ETL tools like MSBI. I effectively used SSIS to define mapping parameters and variables, transformations, workflow variables, FTP connections, and relational connections.
I also utilized basic UNIX commands and scripting for file compression and email automation through UNIX. - I have extensive experience using transformations such as Aggregate, Merge, Merge Join, Lookup, Fuzzy Lookup, Data Conversion, Conditional Split, Union All, and Sort. Additionally, I utilized containers like For Loop, For Each Loop, and Sequence Container.
I extensively employed ETL processes to load data from Oracle, flat files, XML files, and Excel sheets into Data Warehouses. - I built ETL scripts using PowerShell and batch files to extract and process EMR files from the client network to Optum.
Lastly, I worked on developing end-to-end automation solutions to deliver analytical files back to client networks.
