Pramod Deshmukh

• Had experience of 30 years plus as army officer in the Indian army. During the carrier was associated with Breeding, Training, management and treatment of horses, mules, dogs, cattle. Also responsible for vet public health in various cantonments by means of inspecting food of animal origin and implementing Animal Birth Control Programme (Stray dogs) implemented through AWBI Govt of India. The highlights of work experience is as under
• 2021-2016

Served as Director level executive at various HQ of army in Jammu & Kashmir, North-East & Pune. During this period was responsible for monitoring all the veterinary establishments including evaluation of technical performance of all the vet staff. Created plans and communicated deadlines to ensure training and operational fitness of men and animals for war like situations. Responsible for inventory management of vet medicines and vet medical equipments. Also planned training and deployment of army dogs for counterinsurgency operations

2015-2010

• Posted as Head Administration and Project officer at Defense institute of High Altitude Research ( DIHAR) Leh Ladakh which is lab of Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO). Was responsible for planning and executing the scientific projects, carried out day-day duties accurately and efficiently. As Head Admin worked closely with all the departments of defense to maintain optimum levels of communication to effectively and efficiently complete the projects. Used critical thinking to break down the problems, evaluate solutions and make decisions. The officer was awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for excellent research work in developing pack animals for army and also enhancing the egg hatching at high altitude.
• Officer was also tasked as Director Technical at Integrated HQ of Army where he planned and monitored all vet medical inventories for all the veterinary establishment of Indian Army, also implemented and formulated policies and SOP on animal health and vet public health. Exceeded goals through effective task prioritization and great work ethic.

2010-2000

• The officer was posted as Instructor Class 'A' at Dog Training Faculty of RVC Center & College and was responsible for training of men and dogs ( Sniffer & Guard dogs) for Indian Army to be deployed in insurgency area like Jammu and Kashmir and North-East part of the country. He also commanded the only class 1 Military Veterinary Hospital of the Army.

1990-2000

As young Capt/Maj has commanded Army Dog Units in Jammu & Kashmir during the peak militancy activities. The dog unit was awarded The Chief of Army Staff Unit Appreciation as best unit for it's commitment to fighting counter insurgency operation in highly active area and the officer was awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his devotion to duty.

The officer was involved with breeding and management of Military Dairy Farms at Ahmednagar, Nashik and Pune. He was responsible for breeding operations and management of health of cattle herd of about 1000 animals. Handled day-day running ensuring high levels of productivity and progression.

Also involved in breeding of horses and mules for Indian army while as officer in charge of Breeding operation at Equine Breeding Farm of army. Was responsible for breeding management and health care aspects of about 900 horses and also administration of about 150 civilian staff.

Commanded NCC unit of army at Guwahati and as Officer Commanding was responsible for imparting adventure training like horse riding, map reading, jungle training army basic training to the NCC cadets and thus motivating them to join the Indian Army.
