Automation and Functional Analyst

Westpac
  • To develop the automation scripts for the scenarios that are identified for each release.
  • Identify the automation scenarios set for each release, and add them to the regression pack to run the smoke/regression on an on-demand basis.
  • I also prepared the prod API collection set for the prod validations testing.
  • Previously, it was like manually adding the APIs into the collection, filling the test data in global or environment variables, and making use of this data to run the collection. We also kept some assertions in the script section for each API, and it had to run through all these assertions.
  • Now we have converted all these APIs to implemented automation scripts. This will eliminate a lot of effort in gathering test data.
  • For failed test cases, we will raise the defects and assign them to the corresponding developer.
  • Interact with other teams present onsite to clear cyclic dependencies with other teams for the successful execution of the testing phase.
  • To understand the requirements from the client and share the requirement details with the offshore team.
  • Also, coordinating with the offshore team throughout the testing.
  • Execute automation batch runs, analyze failures, and take appropriate actions on those failures. If it is a data setup issue, then correct it and re-trigger the batch; otherwise, raise a bug/issue ticket to the development team for a fix, and validate the fix once it is deployed.

Manual/Automation as Test Analyst

BNSF
  • PTC, or 'Positive Train Control,' is one of the domains handled by the BNSF.
  • Analyzing the stories, defects, and requirements from Version One and coming up with a test plan means writing scenarios and cases for all possible ways, such as end-to-end testing.
  • Writing VB script for the given requirements, provided that it is automatable.
  • This includes the automation of the client application, such as the PTC web page, Data Server web page, Mainframe, and Log Viewer, which are used to validate the results.
  • Optimization and performance tuning of the script.
  • Worked on the automation of the end-to-end process of the PTC project, such as creating restrictions from the Mainframe application, checking this in PTC, DS, and Locomotive Onboard, and finally verifying the results in the Log Viewer.
  • Writing the queries and retrieving the data from the database, like SQL Studio.
  • I have worked on manual testing, as well as analyzing the stories and testing the stories manually.
  • I have experience in defect logging, mapping requirements to test cases, and executing them in ALM.
  • Also, I have Version One, which is the application used for tracking the project details sprint-wise, and for logging the defects in Version One.
  • BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railway Company is one of the largest freight railroad networks in North America. BNSF operates various facilities all over the United States, including a yard in Winnipeg, to support its transportation system.
