Project: Contractual Services (CS), MyFleet

A cloud based group of digital products to provide specified services for products in an installed base such as monitoring, maintenance, service and spare parts for a gas turbine set installed in a customer’s powerplant.

· Architecture runway – Ownership of Architecture runway for “Contractual Services” (CS) value stream, conducted discovery, ideation & planning sessions, prepared architecture roadmap and drove key enablers such as - DevSecOps pipeline standardisation (quality checks, observability solutions), Integration simplification, assessments etc.

· Disaster Recovery (DR) – Prepared DR strategies and plan for CS applications and lead DR exercise for CS, collaborated with cyber security team, cloud architects and successfully completed DR plan and DR Drill for CS applications.

· Architecture design - Crafted a comprehensive technical architecture diagram for Contractual Services (CS), encompassing multiple products which helps in visualisation of improvement opportunities and simplification (Example - reduced data duplication, harmonisation, simplified integrations and cost saving with right choice of technology/infrastructure services).

· Cloud Migration Strategy –

o Led the comprehensive approach to migrate and re-architect MyFleet modules from Data Centres to the AWS cloud. This involved meticulous discovery, evaluation of migration strategies, integration design and collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Solutions Architects, M&D, and APM.

o Also worked on project planning, solved various technical challenges (automated failure handling, scalability, performance optimisation, connectivity etc.), helped in successful completion of cloud migration of one of most complex legacy module.

· Coaching and guidance to developers, tech leads on some of deeper/advanced aspect of Java, Spring, microservice design principles, performance optimisation & troubleshooting techniques, cloud native services etc.

· SWE Fan strategy – Contributed in tech community initiatives such as , prepared technical paper on Integration standards (Integration decision tree, reference architectures, API design standards) and DevSecOps 2.0 maturity assessments.

Project: Advance Modelling Platform (AMP) April 2020- Present

A cloud based digital product to provide a seamless end-to-end Contract Margin Review experience from ITO/OTR modelling, through monitoring to reduce overall cycle time, enable traceability, and provide insights across the entire portfolio.

· Application architecture –

o AMP foundation design - Devised the overall architecture including microservices design patterns (such as Domain driven design, Event driven design), inter-service communication strategy (service discovery), data structure and modelling, cloud native solutions (ECS with Fargate containers, load balancers, API Gateways, Lambda etc).

o Integration design– Designed integration flows, push/pull strategy, technology decision and contributed in initial platform setup using some of modern tech stack such as (Boomi, API gateway, APIGEE, Glue etc.)

o Security – Designed application Authentication and Authorisation flows, RBAC (Role based access control) service design, crafted API security for inter-service communication & integrations.

· Pilot/POCs (AWS services) - POC of new design components, ensuring modern architecture principles - Event driven integration design using AWS SQS, AWS Lambda (automated monitoring), Baffle (encryption solution) etc.

· Application development (Reusable component) - Developed 30% of entire AMP code base such as calculator microservice, notification system (reactive programming), user service (RBAC), hibernate search, flyway configuration etc.

· System stability and Performance :

o Observability solutions – Implementation of Metrices Dashboards, Automated alerts, cloud watch alarms, Anomaly detection, improved logging and tracing – helped in early detection, troubleshooting and quick resolution.

o Performance optimisation - Ownership of system stability and performance, implemented solutions to solve some of complex and tricky problems -

§ Examples- Fixed deadlocks/cyclic calls in inter service communication, infrastructure right-size (Autoscaling, high compute), parallel programming, hibernate search, catching, query tuning (Spring Batch, Entity Graph) helped in ~40% improvement in API performance.

· Production readiness (Prod Environment setup) - From initial production environment setup to continuous monitoring of pipelines, application stability , dark prod test and always responsive for quick resolution of any technical issues (such as scalability, high availability, TLS certs issues, pipeline stability).

· Security and Compliance – Coordinated all the successful Sox Audit activities, standard practices for system hardening, security scans of code, application & data, timely remediation, API security best practices – helped maintain zero vulnerability goal.

· SWE standard practice –

o Designed DevSecOps process Map and drove the adoption across different teams, business such as integration of security scans, quality gates, peer reviews during development, test automations and observability solutions.

o Knowledge sharing sessions on various forums (DevOps process, System observability, Cloud native & Microservice, Integration design etc.)

Project: Plant Solution Configurator (PSC) May 2017- May 2020

A Cross functional Digital Thread product to optimize business planning and deal support (R process) across GE Power Services which aims to improve efficiency of ITO/OTR execution.

A microservice based application for upgrade solutions design & performance analysis.

• Designed, developed and maintained robust, distributed microservice end to end using AWS, Java, Spring boot, Rest.
• Hands -On development - Continuous development for major and business critical functionality with timely delivery, quality code levering technical skills like Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST etc.
• API Design - Leveraged my strong analytics, problem solving skills, domain knowledge to design and architect solution for new features, this has helped in smooth development, timely delivery and reduced technical and functional debts by ~8%
• Migration (Predix to AWS)– Impact analysis, identified gaps, impacted component, developed, monitored performance and collaborated with team in implementing the change. This has helped 70% reduction in annual base cost and a net 4x improvement in overall performance of the application.
• Performance optimizations - Proactive monitored application using New Relic, JMeter etc. to early identify issues, pain points and have implemented solutions like catching mechanism, asynchronous service communication etc. to improve the technical performance by ~ 30%.
• SWE Community of Practice - Collaborated with different teams and implemented best practices, definition of done, coding standards, application security, architecture guidelines across different projects. This has helped reduce tech debts by ~40% and gain more visibility of product.
• Code Reviews - Leveraged my technical expertise in peer code review and have developed code review guidelines.
• Debugging - Leveraged my strong Troubleshooting or debugging skills for design and code analysis of X-Parta (Marketplace application) in short time which has helped business in application evaluation and decision making for PSC Marketplace.
• Demonstration - Interacted with business for new feature release demo and collect user feedback that helped smooth PSC global rollout.
