Summary

I am a Fashion Designer. I was associated with United World Institute of Design,
Karnavati University.

I graduated from Pearl Academy, Delhi and went on to study
Innovative Pattern Cutting at Central Saint Martins, London.

I went to do Masters in Couture (Alta
Moda) at Accademia Costume e Moda, Rome.


Since 2014, I have been Working,Interning and developing projects with various brands
and NGO’s.

Interned at Nino Bollag (Berlin) in 2013 for their Paris Fashion Week collection.

I have been Teaching and Mentoring students in various design schools in India and Bhutan.
During the Masters in Couture, I had the opportunity to develop a project with the Balenciaga
Museum in Getaria, Spain. Interned at Nicoli Riccami in Rome, Italy. Developed a Fashion
Collection with Luigi Verga at Lake Como, Italy. Developed a design project with the legendary
couture brand Valentino.
I have been working with Indian textiles and crafts since 2011, Started a clothing line
called Papiya by Prateek to explore Indian Traditional Textiles from a contemporary perspective.
Areas of interest are design process, textiles development, creative pattern cutting, Innovative
draping approach, Carnatic Music and Poetry.

Job overview

  • Taught at UID, Karnavati University(Ahmedabad) for 1.5 years, At the Fashion Department. My teaching methods are more studio based where theory meets practice . Taught Elementary Studio Fashion Basics, Studio Bespoke Sustainable Couture, Lingerie and Intimate Design , Design Project with UG semester 3, 4, 6 and PG semester 3. Apart from practice based Design projects I have also undertaken theory modules like Fashion Evolution (History of Fashion) ,Fashion and Cultures. It was really inspiring to go on a design journey with eager students amalgamating Logic, Emotions, Theory and Instincts.
  • Evaluated and supervised student activities and performance levels to provide reports on academic progress.
  • Facilitated academic and community collaborations to increase number of community-engaged research proposal submissions to extramural funders.
  • Assisted professors and school administrators with continuous development, review, planning and outcomes evaluation to measure Fashion Design program performance.
  • Communicated with students about classroom, lab and study session expectations.

Travel

I have traveled to 23 countries in past 7 years, have had great experiences with different cultures and the ability to fit in .

I enjoy the unknown and love exploring.  The more far away i go from India , the more i fall in love with it. Also, I love Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.
