I. OVERHEAD ANALYSIS – UPSTREAM GoM

  • One point of contact from R&A finance for the business departments within the overheads category of Gulf of Mexico, Deepwater business.
  • Engage in stakeholder connects (GM, team leads, Finance managers) for each department to discuss & align on the budgetary requirements for their departmental costs.
  • Precised planning which includes planning for manpower costs, travel, training & other employee costs, internal & third-party activity spends for the period, cost recovery mechanisms (such as Inter group recharges, time writing to recover from co-owners & capitalizing staff costs wherever needed).
  • Consolidation of budgets for determining the overall Operating Plan & Latest estimates periodically.
  • Monthly financial analysis of actuals vs Operating plan as part of budgetary control, to identify any Adhoc transactions.
  • Supports various business requirements to enable its functioning such as supporting processing vendor quotations into Purchase orders, aligning with natural working teams to ensure back-end data creation (such as SAP Vendor / work order setup, following up on invoice payments etc).
  • Developed comprehensive financial planning reports for FMs/ GMs & business leads to view their spends (both Excel & PowerBI) for analysing their current financial situations and recommending on the cost reduction opportunities for enhancing value to their department.
  • Conducted data analysis to evaluate potential recovery options from co-owners by thoroughly examining the Joint operating agreements (JOAs) for our assets and reviewing the COPAS MFI & guidelines (Council of Petroleum Accounting Standards).
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to streamline appraisal reporting processes and improve overall efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supports JV audit teams for substantiating audit trails posed by co-owner auditors on costs/ recoveries made in Shell books.
  • Developed customized reports, summarizing and presenting data in visually appealing format for Time writing reviews.
  • Served as subject matter expert for all opex related queries in Upstream & IG business.

II. Decommissioning & Restoration (D&R)

  • Involved in the D&R planning activities for one cycle of Plan, latest estimates preparation & spend review.
  • Prepare / circulate abex templates for data gathering which contains details of all wells tagged under each asset in GoM, their lease blocks, API details, Plan year, current activity status, working interest etc by comparing data available with Shell vs that reported under BSEE website.
  • Consolidation of entire abex data for plan purposes. Output is shared with well engineers for assessing total abandonment spend on wells / SURF / Facilities based on rig rates, labor rates etc.
  • QA / QC is performed on output shared by cost planners and then MOD (money on date), shell share, present value of abex costs are determined.
  • Overall D&R liability would be aligned in the DRB with the D&R Manager & FM for deepwater business.
  • The abex plan for the wells which are already capitalized is shared with controllers team for annual revaluation of D&R liability in Shell books.
  • Plan data is finally uploaded in plan system for integrating with overall costs for the assets.
  • Once in a quarter, additions to D&R liability are made for the wells which are in AUC status / new wells which have started first oil for the quarter. Quarterly additions are made by reviewing the overall AUC balances for deepwater, comparing the rig schedule and aligning on the viability / future prospects of the well for both SOV / NOV assets.
  • Monthly accruals are recorded for the on-going D&R activities in wells based on the value of work done (VOWD).
  • Monthly spend reports are extracted & reviewed to keep a track on the spend in line with Plan / Rig schedule.
