• DASD Configuration and Migration (DS8800 to DS8860):

Establishing User ID’s, Activating the license by applying the keys, Activating Easy Tier, Display Array Sites, Configure Arrays, Ranks, Extent Pools, LCUs and Volumes. Perform Migration using CSM, by doing failover/failback, create new GM session with new copy sets, Decommissioning of old DASD box.

• Tape Data Migration using CA COPYCAT:

Perform tape data migration using CA Copycat filecopy. Generate the list of volumes part of migration using TMSGRW. Insert enough scratch tapes. Get the required access to run the jobs. Update the ACS rules. Build the CA Copycat tape copy JCL’s and submit.

• CA Vantage windows client installation.

Download the CA Vantage windows client installation files from CA support. Extract and install the files, relevant patches. Add the host to the windows client using the host address, port number and user ID password. Update the sysparms/config/vkgparms as per the client requirement. Update the scripts as per you need or create a new summary object as per you need and run the scripts to get the results.

• CA Vantage upgrade from 14.0 to 14.1 and other product maintenance.

Place the GSD order with the GSD team for the specific product. They will deliver the order to the GDS volume with the naming convention we provided. Using the GSD panel option save the product datasets to mainframe system and do the customization as per your need.

• CLI Installation for TS4500 tape library:

 It was a recommendation from IBM to save the database configuration for TS4500 to quickly recover the database in case of any issues. The database is stored on library control card on a compact flash card. Download the TS4500 cli installation from the IBM fix central providing the machine serial number, type, and microcode level. Follow the instructions to install. With the help of IP address, user name and password issue the cli command to save the DB configuration. saveConfiguration and restoreConfiguration.

• TS7760T Tape library setup.

Set up the physical volume pools, encryption settings. Assigning the physical cartridges to physical volume pools. Defining the category codes, sms constructs and copy modes. Cache partition, inhibit reclaim schedule etc.

• Disaster Recovery Exercise (Using CSM):

 Issue FLASH command from CSM to create consistent group and flash to practice volumes. Update VTS, HSM parmlib, RMM parmlib, create new volcat for DR site. Insert volumes for tape writes, Update DR document after every exercise.

• BMC AMI (MODEL9):

We are taking the full volume backup of DASD volumes to AWS cloud(S3 bucket) using MODEL9 Management Server to recover the client data from Ransomware attack. Which includes installing the MODEL9 agents, define the policies, build the required jobs, automate the backup process by adding the jobs to TWS scheduler.

• IBM Cloud Tape Connect(CTC):

We used Cloud Tape Connect (CTC) to backup mainframe tape data to AWS cloud and also to copy client financial data from physical tapes to AWS cloud.

• DS8000 series: Architecture and components, Virtualization concepts (array, ranks, extent pools, logical volumes etc.)
• Copy Services: Flash Copy (point-in-time copy), Metro Mirror, Global Mirror concepts and setup process, TPCR, CSM
