Objective: Migration from Legacy systems and creation of DL on s3 bucket using AWS Platform. The sequence of activities/ tasks involved for implementation are as follows:

  • Identification and setting up connectivity with source systems or proposing ways for extraction of files. If required setting up discussions with source team and third party team for identifying connectivity.
  • Extraction of files/ data from source and loading to AWS s3 landing layer. This is done using SFG or reusable utilities developed using Scala code. From second load onwards delta rows are identified and extracted based on audit dates.
  • Extraction of files from s3 landing layer and loading files in parquet format to s3 Sanitized layer. Here we maintain maintaining SCD-2 for keeping track of history records.
  • Then curation of data is achieved based of various transformations as per requirement and mapping document and then loaded to s3 Curated layer. Here also we maintain SCD Type-2 for keeping track of history records. Downstream applications can also use extract data from Curated layer based on need.
  • Finally required data and columns are extracted and loaded to Optimized layer using Informatica BDM. Here we maintain either snapshot versions of tables or in view formats which can be used by downstream applications.
  • Then as per basic requirements, Development team creates .mpf files which is provided to downstream applications for reporting purpose.
  • Reconciliation of data/ policies is maintained at each layer for audit purpose.

Objective:

BOAR project basically deals with XML format messages which is received from the source system BIDS. As per business justification, the source systems AXIAL and BPSA sends trade related information through XML and swift message formats using MQ. Excluding XML and swift messages, the source system also provides flat files for processing. This included to develop a new system to read the real time cage activity messages, then generate a output XML message as per the requirement mentioned in FSD and finally send the target messages to target system (AXIAL/ Broadridge) through MQ which is used further for reporting purpose by the business users.

The processing of source XML messages includes the following steps:

  • Firstly source XML messages from AXIAL is loaded to BIDS source table in development environment.
  • From BIDS table processing of XML messages starts and data is loaded to intermediate staging tables.
  • For this Informatica mapping is developed which extracts data from source table BIDS. Then required elements are extracted from XML tags using XML parser and data is loaded to columns of staging tables.
  • Then using data from staging tables, new XML is generated as per FSD requirement and is loaded to same BIDS table.
  • Finally, target XML messages are sent to target system through MQ
  • .
  • Build of dashboards and reports through OBIEE 11g.

The objective was to establish an integrated data platform by extracting the required data for major source systems like SAP, NCMS, flexnet, ENOVIA and few more The sequence of activities/ tasks involved for implementation are as follows:

  • First step is source dependent data load to logical staging database.
  • Second step is source independent data load to DW which ETL approach. This includes loading of data to oracle staging area from SAP environment through datastage using ABAP Programs.
  • This is followed by Incremental runs every four hours for capturing and loading delta records into oracle staging area. This also includes Full and Incremental Loads from flexnet files and Oracle 8i tables through datastage Jobs.
  • Design and Creation of facts/ dimensions as per requirement.
  • Loading of data to these facts/ dimensions through datastage Jobs.
  • Final Process is to load Aggregated Facts based on which MicroStrategy reports can be build.

The ETL is implemented using Oracle BI Applications. The data from the sourcing system is populated in to Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse in a two step process :

  • First step is source dependent data load to logical staging database.
  • Second step is source independent data load to data warehouse. It uses mappings to perform Extract, Load and Transform (ELT) of data from source system. Following processes are being done during ODI mapping

The Unified Inventory Interface(UII) is a Service Assurance

infrastructure component which creates a single interface

to give a consolidated view of network inventory data enabling the network to be managed from a Customer centric view. The data initially comes from the various source systems which is processed by ETL and gets populated in UII database. Then it gets propagated to outside system through APIs and Batches. These ETL and APIs are created and maintained in UII.


At project level, I was basically involved in design activities. Also was fully responsible for end to end development using pl/sql packages and procedures which also includes specific interfaces Testing, preparation of Unix scripts and co-ordination with the ASG team at the time of Live Deployment. This also included developing various Batches and API's in PL/SQL
