A Senior Civil Engineer is a leadership-level professional responsible for overseeing the design, planning, and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects They bridge the gap between abstract design blueprints and physical construction, managing budgets, cross-functional teams, and regulatory compliance.
• Project Leadership & Management: Overseeing projects from initial feasibility studies through preliminary layouts to final execution. This includes deploying staff, developing work schedules, and ensuring completion on time and under budget.
• Engineering & Design Review: Approving blueprints, structural calculations, and schematic drawings. They ensure the implementation of sound civil engineering disciplines (geotechnical, structural, wind, and hydrology analyses) using software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Financial & Resource Allocation: Conducting cost estimations, preparing project budgets, managing contract awards, and analyzing expenditures to optimize resource allocation.
• Site Supervision & Safety: Leading on-site engineering and construction teams, managing subcontractors, and verifying that all phases of construction meet rigorous quality standards and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, executive management, municipal councils, environmental agencies, and utility providers.

• Daily Progress Reports (DPR): Maintain meticulous records of work completed, labor strength, material receipts, and weather conditions.
• Checklists & Lab Testing: Perform and document mandatory field tests (e.g., concrete cube casting and slump tests) and coordinate with third-party labs for compressive strength results.
• Billing Verification: Measure the work completed by contractors on-site to verify and certify their running account (RA) bills.
• Drawing Interpretation: Thoroughly study and implement Architectural, Structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings. You must catch discrepancies before concrete is poured.
• Foundation/Raft: Oversee heavy rebar reinforcement and massive concrete pours.
• Superstructure: Inspect shuttering (formwork), reinforcement binding, and concrete cover blocks before clearing any slab for casting.
• Finishing: Monitor blockwork, plastering, waterproofing (especially in toilets/balconies), and flooring.
• Managed on-site construction operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications, resulting in timely project completion within budget.
