Current Job roles & responsibilities-

I, Cdr Ranjit Singh while serving the appointment of GSO-1 (Coord) proficiently persisted to discharge my duties and effectively abridged cordial working relations between NCC and various external organisations, Services HQs and Higher offices.


My job role is appended below-

1. Conduct of National Level Events- Effectively handled the sensitivities associated in coordination and security of eminent personalities of national stature like Vice President, Defence Minister, Minister of State for Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chief, Def Secy during the NCC Republic Day Camp. Besides, I have been instrumental in coordination with higher offices and myriad security agencies for the conduct of NCC PM Rally attended by Hon’ble PM and over 16000 spectators.


2.Tech Prowess- To ensure an efficient method of distributing invitation cards, I have successfully automated the archaic Prime Minister Rally’s invitation distribution process involving over 16000 invites. That enabled me to ensure printing and timely distributed cards in a short time period this year and significantly contributed to the event’s resounding success.


3.Coordinating Vis of Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence- Furthermore, I have been organising the nationwide vis of the Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence to various National Cadet Corps (NCC) units flawlessly. Mt efforts in on-ground coordination have played a pivotal role in seamlessly executing these national level events, thereby contributing in elevating the overall image and prestige of NCC.


4. Handling Sensitive and Time Bound Matters- I have proficiently handled and monitored sensitive documents related to Right to Information (RTI), compiled data for time bound Parliament Questions, endeavoured to settle queries from 17 NCC State Directorates and Standing Committee on Defence (SCoD) with most positive outcome.

Directorate of Staff Requirement (DSR) is amongst the strategic establishment of the Indian Navy. The DSR in the Indian Navy is responsible for formulating the staff requirement for all ships and onboard weapons, ensuring the Navy has the necessary personnel and resources. The job role here was with the Seamanship vertical, and the same in brief is mentioned below:


1. To induct new-generation/technique Seamanship equipments in the Indian Navy.

2. Processing case for procurement of new-generation/technique Seamanship equipment for Indian Navy.

3. Distribution of new-generation/technique gears for various class of ships.

4. To implement new Seamanship policies along with amendment of existing Seamanship policies/procedures.

5. To integrate life-saving equipments/gears with the updated safety compliances and Seamanship policies.

6. Validating the existing and new Seamanship policies/procedures.



Deputy Commander of Yard

Naval Ship Repair Yard

I was second-in-command of Commander of Yard (CoY), my job role here is appended below:


1. To carry out berthing and unberthing duties along with controlled movement of ships and submarines within Naval harbour of Karwar.

2. Ensured operational availability of yard crafts to meet berthing, logistic, and fuel requirements of ships/submarines at Karwar harbour.

3. Conceptualisation, coordination, close monitoring and timely completion of repair and refit packages of various tugs, fuel and water barges, and ferry crafts.


OiC Watermanship Trg Centre/ Seamanship Instr

National Defence Academy
02.2015 - 01.2019

I was posted at the prestigious National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. I was the Seamnship instructor of the academy and officer-in-charge of Peacock Bay. Peacock Bay is an establishment stemmed out of NDA, that had Seamanship pedagogy taught and trained.

My job role supremely constituted imparting Seamanship pedagogy to the gentleman cadets. In the pedagogy, there is a crucial training on utility of Life-saving gears/equipments.


I held various competitions that were of a stature of National level, notable one was with the Yachting Association of India- Inland Enterprises Championship (IEC). IEC is the largest sailing regatta held in India.


Furthermore, there were numerous sailing championships held at Peacock Bay. I was responsible for the upkeep and repair of boats and providing an enabling ecosystem to the participating gentleman cadets.

Local Workup Team- West

The Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) is a training organisation of Indian Navy, responsible for operational sea training of all personnel of Indian Navy. It has authority to maintain battle efficiency standard of IN Ships. Local Workup Team (LWT)-West, is a sub-organisation of FOST and is under the operational control of FOST.


LWT (West) conducts multiple types/number of trainings which encompasses all spheres of ship and related activities.


My job role here is mentioned below:


1. Imparted training to personnel during Operation Sea Training(OST) of ships for enhancing knowledge and confidence of crew, giving emphasis on correct and safe procedures to be followed for Seamanship evolution and promptness and reaction during emergencies.


2. Identifying defects/design deficiencies of ships and suggest suitable remedial/corrective measures.


3. Drafted SoP for Seamanship evolution, instructions, check-list, and compliances on life-saving gears/equipments.


Seamanship Officer

INS DEEPAK
04.2010 - 05.2013

INS DEEPAK is a commissioned Indian Navy fleet tanker from Italy. I was part of the commissioning crew and had the incredible opportunity to visit Italy and be officially posted there for a period of 6 months. In this stipulated period, I was trained to gain expertise on the systems of the ship and their operations, including integration of the Ship with the Indian Naval Fleet.My job role supremely comprised of heading the Seamanship vertical of the Ship and team. I ensured myself and my team acquired the technical knowledge of the latest world-class technology.


During the transition of the ship from Italian Navy to Indian Navy, I was responsible for on-ground working for the Seamanship branch. Once the ship was commissioned in the Indian Navy, various exercises were held to validate the integration of the Ship with the Indian Naval fleet.

The Seamanship School provides training, practical skills, and knowledge on Seamanship aspects such as boat-handling, fueling at sea, anchor-work, towing operations, and usage of life-saving equipments to the personnel of Indian Navy.

I was responsible for conducting theoretical and practical classes on the Seamanship pedagogy of sailors attending promotional courses.

During my formative years in the Indian Navy, I was posted as Seamanship Officer on board various ships. Naming the ships- INS HIMGIRI, INS GOMATI, INS TIR, INS SHAKTI and Assistant Coxswain of Flag Officer Commanding Western Command Barge.


My primary job role on the above mentioned ships was of Seamanship officer and was responsible for safe conduction of all types of Seamanship evolution, and exercise at sea with fleet.


In my secondary job role, I was responsible for watch-keeping duties on bridge at sea and officer of the day at harbour.


During my appointment on board ships, I was also entrusted as regulating officer and my responsibilities involved ensuring security of ships' assets, men and material, and right code of conduct of personnel (sailors).
