Project Details

  • JRO (Junior Research Officer), NFHS 6 Project in IIPS, 03/01/2023, The 2023-24 National Family Health Survey (NFHS-6), the sixth in the NFHS series, provides information on population, health, and nutrition for India and each state and union territory. Like NFHS-4, NFHS-5, NFHS-6 also provides district-level estimates for many important indicators. All five NFHS surveys have been conducted under the stewardship of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India. MoHFW designated the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai, as the nodal agency for the surveys. Funding for NFHS-6 was provided by the Government of India. Technical assistance for NFHS-6 was provided by the USAID-supported Demographic and Health Surveys Program, ICF, USA. Assistance for some of the Clinical, Anthropometric, and Biochemical (CAB) tests was provided by the ICMR and the National AIDS Research Institute (NARI), Pune., Quality Control and Monitoring, Human resource management (facilitate in-state training, refresher training, etc.), Spot-check some of the addresses of selected households to be sure that the interviews are being done in the right households and the right respondents according to the sampling list, Review a sample of questionnaires of each interviewer to be sure that data collection quality is being maintained by the survey team, Observe a sample of interviews to ensure that the interviewers are asking the questions according to the interview guidelines and recording the answers correctly, Meet with the QC team, survey team, and field survey agency state coordinator regularly to discuss performance and maintain the data collection quality, Conduct re-interviews of a sample of respondents for quality assurance, Monitor key indicators by generating frequency tables, Surprise visits to monitor whether the field survey agency teams are adhering to the field movement plan and the number of trained investigators is per prescribed team size, Actively participate in all project meetings and coordinate communication between the NFHS 6 team and field data collection agencies, Develop fieldwork plans and provide regular updates to the NFHS 6 team, Any other field work-related responsibilities assigned by the NFHS 6
