Work History

Principal Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Indian Air Force
11.2019 - 07.2023
  • Ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of high, medium and low voltage electrical systems including UPS, lighting, small power and lighting automation is a top priority on runways. Conducting routine tests on generators, breakers, CT, PT, HT-Panels, LT-Panels and protection relays from ABB, Siemens, Alstom, Schneider and GE as well as power cables up to 150KV, is an integral part of the maintenance strategy.
  • Planning and implementing activities such as planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and condition-based maintenance (CBM) are crucial for efficient operations. Monitoring and controlling maintenance activities, including preventive, breakdown, corrective and conditioning-based maintenance for HTPCC, LTPCC, transformers, generators, motors, UPS, battery chargers, and APFC (LT & HT) are key responsibilities.
  • Creating and maintaining documents related to statutory compliance, such as CEA Regulation, IS Standards and NBC, is essential. Adhering to ISO standards priority. Implementing improvement activities like Kaizen, 5S, BLIP, and CIP in substations and switch rooms contribute to overall efficiency.
  • Managing and tracking the spare inventory of electrical equipment, along with procuring necessary spares to prevent any shortfall is crucial. Monitoring and reviewing service provider key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintaining electrical equipment serviceability and availability above 99% are critical benchmarks.
  • Ensuring thorough testing of cables, transformers, DGs, HT panels, LT panels, UPS, and protection relays during preventive maintenance checks is a standard practice. Overseeing and controlling electrical works on-site, reviewing construction method statements, equipment details/schedules, and coordinating with subcontractors for project handling are important aspects of the role.
  • Pre-planning the testing and commissioning of AIS switchyards, GIS switchgear, and substations using wiring and circuit diagrams is a proactive measure. Possessing knowledge in cable fault identification, tracing, rectification, and diagnosis, as well as expertise in transformer commissioning testing, diagnosis testing, and transformer oil testing, adds value to the role.
  • Conducting fault analysis, including relay disturbance recording analysis and root cause analysis (RCA), and ensuring timely rectification for HT panels, LT panels, DGs, PLCs, cables, and transformers are essential for maintaining system reliability.
