I am Richa Jaiswal, a Senior Dietician (RD) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. I hold a master’s degree in Food and Nutrition from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Surgical Disciplines at AIIMS. My professional training was completed at St. Stephen's Hospital.
With over 25 years of experience as a Dietician in various healthcare settings, I have earned a reputation for being hardworking and reliable. I played a key role in developing the AIIMS Trauma Centre Dietetics Division and demonstrated solid administrative skills during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to recognition from AIIMS management, the ministry, and several NGOs.
My work in Bariatric Nutrition has been internationally acknowledged. I manage a very busy surgical discipline dietetics unit and am actively involved in Medical Nutrition Therapy for both indoor and outdoor patients. My experience spans across surgery, trauma surgery, critical care, cancer, nephrology, and gastrointestinal surgery departments at AIIMS.
I have also been invited to share my expertise at various government organizations, including The Indian Coast Guard, Doordarshan, Rajyasabha TV, and Loksabha TV. Additionally, I regularly deliver nutrition talks at numerous forums.

In 2023, I received the IFSO-IH scholarship to present my scientific work at the XXVI IFSO World Congress in Napoli, Italy.
I have written chapters on Cancer and Nutrition, as well as Surgical Nutrition. I also authored a chapter on Liver Nutrition, which was published in the ISCCM Textbook of Critical Care Medicine in 2023. Additionally, I prepared a write-up titled "Challenges of Nutritional Management Post-Surgery: RYGB vs. Sleeve Gastrectomy vs. Duodenal Switch (BPDDS)," which was published in the Journal of Indian Dietetic Association (JIDA). I also wrote a piece on "Nutritional Care After Traumatic Brain Injury."
I serve as a teaching faculty for MBBS and nursing students at AIIMS, New Delhi. Additionally, I teach an online advanced Bariatric Nutrition course, an initiative of Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College (SVT), S.N.D.T Women's University, Mumbai, and another online "Advanced Bariatric Nutrition Course" endorsed by IFSO, TUGSS, OSSI, and the University of Sunderland.
I have been involved in several projects, including an AIIMS Intramural Project titled "Continuous Feeding in Critically Ill Patients: A Survey of Nurse's Satisfaction Scores at a Tertiary Care Trauma" and another project on "The Impact of Nutrition Feeding Delay on Neuro Trauma Patients: An Investigation into Clinical Outcomes and Neurological Recovery." Additionally, I worked on an ICMR Project focusing on "Micronutrient Deficiency in Moderate to Severe Traumatic Brain Injury in Children."
I completed the Lifelong Learning Course with distinction, organized by the European Society of Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition. To further my knowledge in Nutrition, I have attended numerous workshops and international courses on topics such as type-I diabetes, ketogenic diet, sports nutrition, nutritional supplements, and surgical, enteral, and parenteral nutrition.
I also developed a low-cost, indigenously prepared drink for the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol in the Gastrointestinal Surgery (GIS) department at AIIMS, New Delhi.
I am one of the founding members and the secretary of "The Foundation for Obesity Research and Metabolic Surgery (FORMS)." I hold membership (AM 698) with the Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI)-Integrated Health (IH) and IFSO, and I have been elected as the OSSI-IH Convener for 2022-2026.
I am a bonafide member (LM 419) of the Indian Dietetic Association, Delhi Chapter, where I also serve as the IDA, Delhi Chapter Co-Convener. Additionally, I am a Life Member of the Indian Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (IAPEN India) with membership number LM-2023-1083.
Recently, I have been appointed as a National Executive Member of the newly established Bharat Dieticians Association.
I have organized several workshops and scientific meetings to spread knowledge and share skills. Notably, I served as the organizing secretary for the first National Bariatric Postgraduate CME (BARIME-2017), which was hosted at AIIMS, New Delhi.
I have also been involved in national and international conferences on Bariatric Surgery, including AIIMS BARICON in 2017, 2019, and 2022, as well as OSSI conferences in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, I have organized many national nutrition conferences, both through AIIMS, New Delhi and the Indian Dietetic Association, Delhi Chapter platforms.
