Research Experience:

  • Participated in a Summer Research program where we studied the synthesis of biodiesel by the trans-esterification of soybean oil catalyzed by calcium oxide under the guidance of a mentor. It involved literature survey, presenting findings at a research seminar, and analyzing various types of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts and their appropriate employment in these reactions followed by their inadequacies.
  • Effect of Solvent Parameters and Temperature on the Rate of Reaction and Stereoselectivity of Diels-Alder Reactions was studied for a Post-Graduation thesis. Our main objective is to distinguish the physical processes that give rise to C-C bond formation reactions. The concept of "unconventional solvents" reflects modern scientists' shared desire to reduce the negative environmental effects associated with the use of currently available toxic solvents in the manufacturing of chemicals. To ascertain the mechanistic details from the viewpoint of a physico-organic chemist, organic reactions have been conducted in water, Ionic liquids, alcohols, and a few molecular solvents. Results were presented at a departmental conference. This chapter lists the various instrumental procedures that have been used to conduct the current investigations.
  • Oversaw the design and implementation of a study, the collection and analysis of data, the presentation of findings at a departmental conference, and research on "The Effect of Activity Based Approach on Achievement in Science, of students in Elementary Stage" as part of a Post-Graduation thesis.
