The Emergency Medicine department at Jubilee Mission Hospital is a well-established and efficiently functioning specialty with a 40 bedded facility including a resuscitation bay and high dependency unit. I have actively involved in teaching and hands on training workshops in BLS and First aid conducted at community level as well as for healthcare staff in other hospitals. I have enlisted the workshops I did/participated in chronological order below:
1. First aid training for volunteers of Junior Red Cross on 26,27 and 28 November 2018.
2.Conducted BLS and first aid training session for group of nursing and paramedical staff of Dharmagiri St. Joseph's holistic healing Centre 3/02/2019.
3. BLS and first aid training session for newly recruited sub engineers of KSEBL (Kerala State Electricity board) on 17/4/2019
4. BLS and first aid training for the undergraduate students at St Thomas College, Thrissur -20/7/2019
5. BLS and first aid training for nursing and paramedical staff of Government medical college, Thrissur.
6. BLS training for Obstetric Rapid Response Team, Jubilee mission medical college on 13/10/2019.
In the above workshops, I taught to small groups of audience members using verbal communication as well as demonstration on mannequins and ensured each participant has comprehended and learned necessary skills to undertake first aid and BLS in real life situations. First aid skills taught included when in case of burns, bleeding injuries, fractures, fall from height, snake bite, electric shock injury, fits, drowning etcetera.
I have participated in research titled 'Baseline knowledge and change in confidence after learning first aid from emergency physicians: a pre post interventional study of 2462 high school junior red-cross cadets'.
My role was in data collection, integration and data entry.
