Work History

Resident Medical Officer

  • Taking hand over of patients admitted to ICU before consultant rounds.
  • Attending to each patient during rounds, doing detailed evaluation including reviewing medical history and presenting complaints and clinical examination.
  • Making notes in daily treatment plan and revising drug chart.
  • Identifying any potential issues of patient admitted like hemodynamic instability, airway compromise, respiratory failure.
  • Receiving new patient to ICU, doing a detailed assessment and formulate a management plan by involving my senior.
  • Assisting in emergency or elective procedures like endotracheal intubation, ICD insertion, Tracheostomy etcetera.
  • Performing ultrasound guided central line, arterial line and HD catheter insertion and diagnostic procedures like lumbar puncture, ascitic tapping, bone marrow examination and biopsy.
  • Documentation of transfer summary for the patient shifted out of ICU to room.
  • Take part in academic meetings conducted by the department.

  • To see new suspected COVID cases, administer immediate treatment and order necessary investigations.
  • Involving my senior in case of acute worsening of any patient in ward/ICU.

  • Hand over patient details to colleague upon finishing my shift in an orderly and efficient manner.

Junior Resident

The Emergency Medicine department at Jubilee Mission Hospital is a well-established and efficiently functioning specialty with a 40 bedded facility including a resuscitation bay and high dependency unit. The department also offers training to two post graduate residents in the MD program each year and is highly recognized for its excellent clinical teaching and career advancement opportunities. As a junior resident in the department my roles were:

  • To do an initial assessment based on patient's observations, history and relevant clinical examination.
  • To prescribe appropriate initial treatment and order urgent investigations.
  • To involve my senior after reviewing the patient and make a decision on further plan of management.
  • To involve in active resuscitation of unstable patient by collaborating with a team of doctors.
  • To attend academics conducted every week for junior residents by consultants.
  • To participate in community activities/outreach programs like BLS and First aid training as a team while undertaking independent roles in each program.

The 2 years' experience of working in a busy and very demanding job as an emergency doctor, has made me confident about my ability to perform well under pressure and be a good team player. I have had opportunity take part in managing all kinds of acute emergencies on a day-to-day basis.

Additional Information

I have actively involved in teaching and hands on training workshops in BLS and First aid conducted at community level as well as for healthcare staff in other hospitals. I have enlisted the workshops I did/participated in chronological order below:

1. First aid training for volunteers of Junior Red Cross on 26,27 and 28 November 2018.

2.Conducted BLS and first aid training session for group of nursing and paramedical staff of Dharmagiri St. Joseph's holistic healing Centre 3/02/2019.

3. BLS and first aid training session for newly recruited sub engineers of KSEBL (Kerala State Electricity board) on 17/4/2019

4. BLS and first aid training for the undergraduate students at St Thomas College, Thrissur -20/7/2019

5. BLS and first aid training for nursing and paramedical staff of Government medical college, Thrissur.

6. BLS training for Obstetric Rapid Response Team, Jubilee mission medical college on 13/10/2019.


In the above workshops, I taught to small groups of audience members using verbal communication as well as demonstration on mannequins and ensured each participant has comprehended and learned necessary skills to undertake first aid and BLS in real life situations. First aid skills taught included when in case of burns, bleeding injuries, fractures, fall from height, snake bite, electric shock injury, fits, drowning etcetera.


I have participated in research titled 'Baseline knowledge and change in confidence after learning first aid from emergency physicians: a pre post interventional study of 2462 high school junior red-cross cadets'.

My role was in data collection, integration and data entry.
