USBGuard is a real-time Windows-based security system designed to monitor and restrict unauthorized access via external hardware such as USB drives, mobile devices, and input peripherals. The system continuously scans for new device insertions using Python’s WMI, registry queries, and pywinusb, distinguishing between internal and external components via vendor filtering. Upon detection of an unknown device, the system enforces a full-screen lock and requires password authentication to regain access. Built using Python, Tkinter, WMI, and Win32 API, USBGuard combines GUI-based security prompts with low-level hardware detection. It enhances endpoint protection for personal and enterprise systems, preventing data theft, unauthorized data injection, and hardware keyloggers.
