Shop for Change Fair Trade is a nonprofit organization founded in 2009, incubated by European Union and Traidkraft UK, and restructured by Sameer in 2015. Shop for Change's Mission is to empower farmers, artisans, and their families via sustainable trade and provide long-term solutions to poverty. As an Indian NGO, we are the country's first Fair Trade label. We are committed to providing a meaningful and lasting impact on society through sustainable social Change. Through our work, we hope to make the world a better place.


  • Reengineered the organization’s functioning by changing its priority from certification to trade development.
  • Successfully developed and executed sustainable business plans for more than 2000 farmers. The income of farmers is doubled compared to conventional farmers.
  • Successfully developed an alternative crop management system for more than 100 plus tribal farmers. Tribal farmers are able to earn a minimum of 2.5 lacs per annum with the extra crop.
  • Planted over 50,000 fruit-bearing trees with 700 tribal farmers in 20 villages of Jawhar Taluka, Palghar District, Maharashtra India.
  • Developed an in-house web-based dashboard to track and monitor the progress of the plantation and evaluate yield in terms of quantity and revenue.
  • Encouraged more than 5000 farmers to convert to organic farming from conventional farming.
  • Started organic farming training Centre in Boarding schools for tribal youth.
  • Developed unique handmade consumer utility products made out of Cotton Canvas and Jute, which received an overwhelming response from consumers. (e.g. canvas shoe bags)
  • Worked with various artisan groups and helped them in their capacity building and process optimization.
  • Worked on various levels right from material sourcing to product development which helped the organization to develop cost-effective artisan products.
  • Developed low-budget sales & marketing plans which will give immediate results and help the organization to develop self-sustainable business modules.

  • Started with roadside thela of vegetables in 2016 is now a well known organic brand in Mumbai & Suburbs.
  • Drove performance initiatives, facilitating a 50% revenue increase each year.
