1. Implementation of Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation activities under Energy Conservation Act-2001 in the state of Punjab.

  • Energy Efficiency activities in Govt. Buildings and Schools: Implementation of various energy efficiency demonstration projects with the objective is to replace all existing conventional luminaries with at least BEE 4-star rated LED lamps, fixtures, and conventional fans (80W/100W) with super energy-efficient fans (50W) in Govt. buildings/ institutions and schools across the state of Punjab
  • Model Energy Efficient Village Campaign: The objective of this activity is to make entirely electrified villages into model energy efficient village by replacing existing equipment like household lamps, streetlights, and ceiling fans with BEE star-labelled equipment/ appliances in the state of Punjab
  • Perform, Achieve & Trade (PAT) Scheme: To facilitate smooth and timely implementation of various mandatory activities under PAT Rules. Under PAT Cycle-I, the designated consumers in Punjab achieved 5000 MUs and avoided 1000 MW avoided capacity.
  • State Energy Efficiency Research & Outreach Programme: Promotion and development of research activities/ projects on energy efficiency and energy conservation in the state through MoU with technical and research institutions under State Energy Efficiency Research & Outreach Program of Ministry of Power. The objective is to strengthen the partnership between policy makers and educational institutions to accelerate energy efficiency and enhance the outreach activities undertaken by PEDA.
  • Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency: To accelerate the shift to energy efficient appliances and bring market transformation in various supply and demand-side sectors across the state, demonstration projects were initiated wherein financial assistance was provided by PEDA for the replacement of existing conventional luminaries with BEE star-labelled LED lamps, fixtures, and conventional fans with super energy-efficient fans.
  • Standards & Labelling: Issuance of notifications for the efficient use of energy and its conservation in the state regarding the mandatory use of minimum BEE 4-star labelled and ISI marked distribution transformers in consultation with PSPCL within the state of Punjab. Additionally, mandatory use of minimum BEE 4-star labelled, and ISI marked motor pump sets in consultation with PSPCL for all the new tube-well connections in agriculture sector.

2. State level Impact Assessment of Energy Efficiency measures for the FY 2018-19

  • Preparation of supply side and demand side sectors (Agriculture, Commercial & Residential Buildings, Municipal, Industries) questionnaire for data collection
  • Review of ongoing state level schemes and energy efficiency implementation status by departments/ organizations for the adoption of energy efficiency in their jurisdiction. It included the following:

o Standard and labelling for appliances

o Energy Conservation Building Code for buildings

o Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) for large industries

o Energy Efficiency project in micro, small and medium enterprises

o Energy Efficiency in Agriculture sector

3. Implementation of Energy Audit Scheme in Small & Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and Commercial Buildings

  • Designing of Energy Audit Scheme (Level-1 & Level-2)
  • Stakeholder consultations which included auditing firms, industrial associations, industrial units and establishments
  • Implementation of Energy Audit Scheme and providing financial assistance to auditing firms for conducting energy audits at the designated SMEs and Commercial Buildings
  • Achieved Energy savings to the tune of 30 MUs across 30 establishments (9 Buildings and 21 SMEs)
