Steel Structures Fabrication and Erection Activities
This activity involves constructing of heavy steel structures, such as universal beams,
universal columns, built-up sections of beams and columns, fabrication and assembly of
hollow sections, tubular structures, bracings, construction of pipe rack structures, steel
bridge construction for piping (due to road crossing), ladders, handrails, as well as the
fabrication, erection, and inspection of steel silos, hoppers, and steel ashbins

fabrication and erection of steel chimneys, duct fabrication activity, and inspection are also

Additionally, it involves the fabrication and erection of convey structures and
different piping supports
Witnessing bolt torquing and tightening of steel structures is also a part of this activity
Verifying the splice joints of UB, UC, ISMB, ISMC, etc., as per splicing details
The selection of NDT and NDT percentages of groove and fillet joints should be as per
specification and drawing
