Work history

Vedanta Aluminium Limited, Jharsuguda (Since Oct’2016)
Being the world’s largest single location Aluminium smelter in Jharsuguda(Odisha) with 1.8 MTPA capacity, with time progression company has undergone through several capacity enhancement projects. Some of the career’s highlighted projects are as;

1. Material Handling Improvement: - Expanded the existing conveyor system and unloading shed with an EOT crane to facilitate efficient coke transportation from the unloading point to the operational area, minimizing delays and avoiding heavy demurrage charges associated with delayed rake unloading. This initiative addressed challenges such as limited storage shed capacity, manual handling of coke bags, and unavailability of hoppers.
2. De-bottlenecking Project (60 KTPA): - Led a de-bottlenecking project in a cast house with an annual capacity of 300KT. Installed an additional Ultrasonic testing machine and optimized magazine arrangements in the homogenizing furnace conveyor line to establish two independent lines, mitigating production losses caused by reliance on a single operational line for billet movement. Implemented an interchangeable conveyor technique to shift billets between lines during breakdowns. Collaborated with experts and supervised the project execution under the guidance of Austria-based OEM (M/s Hertwich Engineering), resulting in a production capacity increase of 60KTPA.
3. Cast House Production Capacity Enhancement (120 KTPA): - Expanded the capacity of the cast house from 360 KTPA to 480 KTPA by installing a new casting line equipped with two 60MT melting furnaces, one BCM, and one Homogenizing furnace to accommodate increased metal intake. Managed the setup of the homogenizing furnace as the package owner, overseeing the end-to-end process in collaboration with M/s Hertwich Engineering.
4. New Cast House Setup (430 KTPA): - Established a new cast house with an annual capacity of 430KT to meet future metal production demands. Oversaw the setup of homogenizing furnaces as the package owner in collaboration with M/s Hertwich Engineering, aimed at enhancing the quality of the final product through baking and homogenization processes.

Achievements leading to company's benefit

1. Through the implementation of the CP coke material handling project, the duration for rake unloading, with only two rake placements, was significantly reduced, preventing substantial demurrage charges amounting to approximately 1 Cr/Month incurred due to delays in unloading with three rake placements.

2. The De-bottlenecking project resulted in a production increase of 60 KT on VAP products, contributing to a revenue boost of 15 Cr/Year for the company.

3. The Cast house capacity enhancement project led to a production surge of 120 KT on VAP products in addition to the existing annual capacity of 360 KT, leading to a revenue uplift of 26.4 Cr/Year.

4. Mitigated the risk of hot surface hazards up to 100 deg C post-final strapping by integrating a water cooling system into the homogenizing process. This implementation addressed a key observation by the VSAP auditors, resulting in improved audit scores at the group level for the fiscal year 23-24.

Achievements

1. Received the "Star of the Business" award for the fiscal year 22-23, the highest recognition conferred by Vedanta Resources, in acknowledgment of consistent outstanding performance throughout the tenure at Vedanta.

2. Acknowledged as an emerging leader in "V-Reach Version 3.0" for the fiscal year 23-24, highlighting leadership potential and significant contributions to the organization's objectives.

3. Honored at the group sector level with the "Best Performer Award" for achieving a remarkable milestone of completing a shutdown activity within 20 days instead of the scheduled 60 days, thereby saving 40 days of production loss and setting a benchmark for efficiency and effectiveness.

Career endeavour

Desiring the role of Project Manager to lead and execute greenfield projects effectively.
