Principal Engineer - Integrated Cluster Design

Greaves Electric Mobility PVT Ltd
07.2022 - Current
  • Based on the requirements provided by the Business and Product teams, design the subsystem architecture encompassing the vehicle-to-cluster interface, VCU, TCU, and mobile application. The architecture should account for mechanical packaging, display specifications (LCD/TFT type and input), selection of SOM/SOC/microcontroller, DIOs, DOPs, analog inputs, PWM signals, audio components (buzzer/speaker), antenna type and placement, LTE module, and communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, UART, SPI, and I²C. Additionally, consider IMU/6-axis sensors (accelerometer/gyroscope), ambient light sensors, and vehicle mating connectors.
  • Prepare cost estimates for tools, resources, licenses, renewals, and AMC, and develop a comprehensive business case—supporting the PMO—to secure CAPEX and OPEX budget approval in collaboration with the project sponsor for the assigned project.
  • Provided mentorship to junior engineers in drafting comprehensive Statements of Requirements, including mechanical, hardware, software, and DVP elements to support robust product development.
  • Led and mentored junior engineers in formulating comprehensive Statements of Requirements covering mechanical, hardware, software, and Design Verification Plan (DVP) aspects, contributing to the delivery of robust and reliable product solutions.
  • Develop a compliance matrix aligned with the SOR to systematically assess supplier adherence to mechanical, hardware, software, and DVP requirements
  • Led techno-commercial finalization in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring the selection of components and materials aligned with relevant industry standards and project requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders to get the NDAs signed with all suppliers
  • Upon budget approval, initiate the PO release (responsible for FSR & CPR) process in coordination with the sourcing team for the selected supplier.
  • Ensure the product is tested across all development phases and for each software release, including bench-level testing using tools such as Vehicle Spy, P-CAN, and Sloki, as well as HIL/SIL simulations and full vehicle-level validation.
  • Guided junior engineers in best-in-class problem-solving practices, contributing to improved issue resolution efficiency and enhanced team development.
  • Ensure the supplier are Utilizing advanced simulation tool to optimize designs for improved performance prior to physical prototyping stages by daily meeting.
