During my first two years of law school, I consciously prioritized building a strong doctrinal and research foundation before entering practice-oriented internships. I invested that period in developing proficiency in case-law analysis, legal writing, procedural understanding, and academic research through coursework, self-study, and writing projects.
I chose to delay formal internships so that when I did enter chambers and firms, I would be able to contribute meaningfully rather than operate as a purely observational intern. This allowed me to approach my third-year internships with greater clarity, discipline, and technical competence.
