I am a highly experienced and motivated experimental scientist with deep practical knowledge of medical operations for spaceflight, European and international space science programmes, and scientific project management. I also have an extensive expertise in managing research teams in interdisciplinary environments. I hold a PhD in Systems Biology, MSc degrees in Molecular Biology and Medical Biotechnology, and a certificate in Forensics. In my current position I support the European Space Agency in protecting ESA astronauts’ health on missions to the Moon and beyond. It is by stimulating the growth of the European science community and industry with the focus on radiation protection. I represent ESA when working with international partners, scientific and industrial communities, and the general public. In the next years I want to further support ESA to safely bring the first European women and men to the Moon. OUTREACH - I am a co-author of 32 peer reviewed publications, 1 scientific letter, 2 book chapters, and multiple conference papers. I have been regularly presenting research and ESA programmes on international conferences, workshops and during educational trainings. I have been participating in educational events, promoting space research and STEM to the general public at all ages. LEADERSHIP - Since the beginning of my scientific career I have been supervising students and young researchers. After joining ESA, I set up and have been leading a scientific group aiming to dissect the mechanisms of individual radio-sensitivity, with particular focus on sex differences. I also coordinate and lead ESA internal working groups. MANAGEMENT - I have been executing end-to-end science project management throughout 10 years of my academic career. After joining ESA, I enriched my expertise on project management from concept development, writing statement of work, and supporting every stage of the procurement process.
