  • The project mainly focuses on removal of inorganic pollutants such as metal ions and organic pollutants such as biodegradable from domestic or industrial waste water.•
  • The prototype of the MFC mainly consists of an anodic and a cathodic region connected via salt bridge.
  • The process of removal of contaminants happens in the anodic region that consists of an anode. The anode is comprised of bio char embedded inside a e stainless steel mesh.
  • The anode consisting the biochar adsorbs all the inorganic contaminants such as the metal ion and inside the anodic chamber microbes are embedded that oxidise the organic contaminants in the waste water generating electrons
  • The generated electrons travel from the anodic region to cathodic region completing the circuit and producing electricity while purifying the waste water.
