During my internship at Verka Milk Plant, I gained hands-on experience in the dairy industry, learning about milk processing, quality control, packaging, and distribution. My primary role was to assist in monitoring the production process, ensuring hygiene standards, and analyzing milk samples for quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control & Testing:
- Collected and tested raw and processed milk samples for fat content, pH levels, and microbial contamination.
- Assisted in maintaining compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO-22000).
- Documented test results and reported inconsistencies to supervisors.
- Observed and assisted in milk pasteurization, homogenization, and standardization processes.
- Ensured that all machines, such as separators, chillers, and homogenizers, functioned correctly.
- Assisted in minimizing wastage by monitoring the efficiency of production lines.
2. Packaging & Distribution:
- Helped in the packaging process, ensuring correct labeling and sealing of milk cartons and bottles.
- Ensured that storage conditions met required temperature and hygiene standards.
- Assisted in inventory management and tracking shipments.
3. Sanitation & Safety Compliance:
- Learned about CIP (Cleaning in Place) procedures for equipment sanitation.
- Ensured workers followed hygiene practices like wearing gloves, masks, and hairnets.
- Reported any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
