  • Collins CV-B787: FCSB Hinge Support: This is a complex 1.5m Structural part of Aluminum. I worked on the CNC Programming of this part & also supported process planning. It consist of challenges from GD&T & topological point of view & thus planned in 2 roughing & 2 finishing stages. I worked on Multi-Axis Program generation on DMF 360 Machine and also the Probing to ensure the datum target points are achieved. The use of long Drill & Long reamers and optimization of tool paths in cutting envelope of DMF 360 had been one of the main learnings.
  • Belfast Project-Ti Spreader Plate: This is a titanium Plate part with area dimensions larger than thickness & this leads to tackling with bend issues. The Surface profile feature is very critical with datum at an angle to it made the machining critical. Implementation of alternate rough-finish machining strategies,intelligent use of surface machining (spiral milling) operations along with right tool selection and cutting parameters helped us achieving the right quality. Importance of fixture clamping & Proper butting of part was very well understood. Also I implemented the probing programs to verify the profile features after its machined. Also my team was successful in delivering 100 FAIs in 100 days Such deliveries enhanced our customer responsiveness and helped us develop agile manufacturing process.
  • Spirit Flint Extrusion Parts: This family of parts are mostly thin walled and long and thus with high slenderness ratio. Also they come up with inconsistent material which needs to carefully considered while programming. Also machining strategy has to be such that it has sufficient rigidity otherwise chances of vibration & chattering is very high. Also water level machining is preferred in single setup parts.
  • Airbus Hard Metal Project: This a CTR project implemented for high order quantity parts and also belong to long term contracts. So to achieve the reduced the cycle times,I worked with process planning team to improve the older process and also while programming along with cutting parameters allot of importance to implement lean tool paths with minimum air passes and usage of full flutes as much as possible. After vericut,I also implemented vericut force for such parts so as to optimize the cycle time. But while implementation of Force programs in shop floor, through coolant tools, proper chip evacuation & right alignment along with sufficient flow rates of coolant was also ensured.
  • Probing & IMS Post Processor Development- I have been working on process improvement activities like implementation of probing on the shop floor as a part of Poke Yoke implementation. I have been working on Renishaw Probing software for RM probing on standalone Machines and also on CATIA for concentricity, datum transfer, wrong billet and wrong alignment activities. Also I have been learning the VB script to develop post processor using IMS post. Along with this I am also trying to implement automation using windows powershell and integrating it with CATIA.
  • Cutting Tool & Machine Build-Up activities- In CATIA to use cutting tool representation, cutting tools have to be built and moved to the catalogue. Thus I have also built cutting tools like End Mills, Drills, Reamer, Boring Bars ..etc which helped in standardizing the process.
