Company Overview: A leading data storage storage company that makes hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), and flash memory devices.
Key Responsibilities Areas :
1. Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and MIS reporting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Coordinate audits and manage the audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
- Review general ledger entries and ensure accurate financial reporting.
2. Taxation & Compliance
- Advise clients or the company on tax strategies, including corporate tax strategies for optimizing tax costs.
- Manage tax filings, returns, transfer pricing compliances and direct tax assessments.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and recommend adjustments to the company’s tax structure.
3. Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Establish and maintain internal controls to prevent fraud and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Review and streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
4. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor accountants and finance teams, ensuring quality of work and professional development.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable,receivables, forecasting cash flow, treasury activities etc.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., operations, Trade & Compliance, HR) to ensure smooth financial processes.
5. Strategic Business Advisory
- Act as a financial advisor to senior management, helping drive decision-making and long-term strategies.
- Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights for cost optimization and profitability enhancement.
- Collaborate with leadership in financial planning and resource allocation to meet organizational goals.
6. Spin-off of Western Digital Flash and HDD business
- Perform a detailed financial analysis of the flash and HDD business units, including assets, liabilities, and revenue streams.
- Develop financial models to assess the long-term viability of the spin-off and its impacts on the company's overall financial position.
- Collaborate with legal, strategic, and operational teams to ensure smooth communication with shareholders, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the financial reporting of both companies, ensuring that the spin-off is reflected accurately in the financial statements.
- Ensure that all financial data for the spin-off is correctly separated and attributed to the respective business units, including revenue streams, liabilities, and assets.
- Ensure that financial controls and audits are in place to ensure accuracy in the financial statements of both entities.
- Manage ongoing tax compliance for both companies. This may involve ensuring that any restructuring or adjustments are done in a tax-efficient manner.
