  • Working within the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), my six-hour shifts encompass morning, evening, and night rotations.
  • During this time, I conduct various respiratory care procedures, including initiating NIV, CPAP, and BiPAP, as well as managing ventilator patients and overseeing their weaning process.
  • Additionally, my responsibilities involve administering chest physiotherapy, performing arterial blood gas sampling, analyzing and interpreting results, and providing bronchopulmonary hygiene therapy.
  • Administered oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy and inhalation therapy to improve patient's breathing and lung function
  • I also handle cardiopulmonary resuscitation, maintain respiratory care equipment, and conduct patient training sessions.
  • Each shift in the MICU offers a unique set of challenges, but I find immense fulfillment in contributing to the care and recovery of critically ill patients through comprehensive respiratory care interventions.

  • During my time there, I dealt with post-op congenital cardiac cases every day, spanning from neonates to adults. My responsibilities included tasks such as intubation, initiation of ventilation, weaning and extubation, and postoperative respiratory care.
  • I also initiated non-invasive strategies like NIV, BiPAP, CPAP, bubble CPAP, and other advanced ventilation modes such as APRV and HFOV, in addition to administering inhaled nitric oxide therapy.
