BT Trading & Command - 4th Line Support

BT Unified Trading is an end-to-end set of tools and services that fit the evolving trading landscape. It provides market participants with the solutions they need to retain and grow clients and to flex their business technology. Under BT Unified trading, there were 2 platforms and we supported for the IP Trade Platforms.

IP Trade Platform is a scalable, standards-based software architecture based on Session Initiation Protocol, and is extensible to multiple communications applications and information systems.

Responsibilities :

  • Bug fixing and delivering patches whenever required.
  • Analysis of production issues from various live environments.
  • Performing root cause analysis on application specific faults when required
  • Guide the development team in case of any issues during production deployment.
  • Performance engineering and benchmarking.
  • Coordinating with C0E team and providing them with all technical details for smoother transition and support.
  • Support for different clients/devices- Netrix, Hitouch, T4, Flex.
  • Application Specific service improvement plans and drives in improvements into the development work stack in close collaboration with the application/platform designers.
  • Served as escalation point for critical client issues, working closely with stakeholders to achieve resolution.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Developed POCs which were then fully developed and released in production. Reduced the time/effort of the user to perform the daily routine tasks by mostly automating them. Developed them in Microsoft Dot Net.
  • Worked on Microsoft Azure as well when the business was planning to migrate to cloud. Was on this from the start, so even if this was a support project got to learn new technologies. We deployed and managed multiple applications on cloud.
  • Mentored junior team members, providing guidance on best practices and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams to identify areas requiring additional support resources or process improvements.

BT Trading - Session Manager (Design and Development)


Bt Trading - Session Manager enables managed peer-to-peer SIP-based communication from trading floor to trading floor across BT's global, secure, intelligent network. This brings together trader voice services and trader voice platforms into one end-to-end integrated global offering. The solution supports multiple communication media and devices, from BT Netrix to mobiles, and is ideal for supporting regionally distributed trading.


The award-winning BT Netrix is a state-of-the-art desktop device designed for the rigorous demands of the trading floor. It is used by one in three traders world-wide, amounting to more than 68,000 traders in over 800 trading firms across over 60 countries, ensuring their mission critical communication to BT.


Responsibilities:

  • Development of JAIN-SLEE based call server for the session manager platform, called the session controller.
  • Designing low level asynchronous event handling.
  • Designing low-level interaction between components like the call server, web services, DB, client(turret).
  • Design and implementation of the state machine.
  • Call flow design for various call flows.
  • Interop with different SIP and non-SIP third party endpoints like the media servers, gateways, PBXs.
  • Designing the end-to-end call flow from UA client till UA server, including various protocols like SIP,HTTP, SNMP.
  • performance engineering and bench marking.
  • Unit testing using SIP Unit.
  • Continuous integration and deployment using Jenkins
  • New feature request acceptance, HLD, LLD, implementation and sign-off.
  • Handling deployment and patches.
  • Design and implementation of different alarms, traps, and maintenance of tools like SNMPs.
