  • This role involves overseeing multiple teams engineers, fabricators, welders, painters, electricians, and other technical staff throughout the shipbuilding phases, from hull construction to final outfitting
  • Maintains and updates the Project Management Plan (PMP), production schedules, manpower allocation records, and daily progress reports
  • Regularly coordinates with the planning department to ensure alignment with the Master Construction Schedule
  • Serves as the primary point of contact between the shipyard and classification societies (e.g., ABS, Lloyd's Register, DNV-GL, Bureau Veritas) to ensure that all design, material, and construction specifications comply with maritime standards
  • Responsible for submitting detailed drawings and plans to class societies for approval, addressing feedback, and making necessary modifications to ensure compliance with structural, mechanical, and electrical standards
  • Handles all documentation related to class submissions, including plan approval requests, review notes, and final certification once approved
  • Reviews technical drawings (structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, piping) internally with engineering teams before submitting them for class society approval
  • Acts as a key intermediary for clarifications and revisions between design engineers and class society reviewers
  • Manages records of submitted drawings, revisions, approval status, and any required modifications
  • Maintains a drawing tracker to monitor the approval process and expedite reviews where possible
  • Coordinates with vendors for timely delivery of equipment and ensures that all parts and materials meet quality standards and technical specifications
  • Oversees commissioning processes for key equipment, such as propulsion systems, generators and navigation systems
  • Keeps records of purchase orders, vendor certifications, inspection reports, and commissioning checklists for each equipment type
  • Develops and updates the Equipment Commissioning Plan to facilitate systematic testing and installation
  • Organizes and oversees sea trials, where the vessel's performance is tested in real-life conditions to verify functionality, stability, propulsion efficiency, and safety
  • Coordinates with engineering teams, class surveyors, and other stakeholders for smooth execution
  • Prepares Sea Trial Procedures, ensuring compliance with class society requirements
  • Manages test reports, logs, and any remedial action plans
  • Ensures final acceptance certificates are obtained post-trial
  • Ensures that all vessel documentation is completed and ready for submission to the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) for port clearance
  • This includes vessel registration, tonnage certificates, and survey compliance documents
  • Schedules and coordinates surveys with MMD for clearance and compliance checks, including Radio Survey, Minimum Manning, and Life Saving Appliances (LSA) certifications
  • Ensures that the vessel meets International Maritime Organization (IMO) and national standards

  • Before the vessel's official handover to the owner, the production manager compiles all relevant documentation, including class society certificates, MMD clearance, commissioning checklists, and equipment manuals
  • Ensures the vessel is thoroughly inspected, approved, and equipped with a comprehensive operational manual
  • Coordinates with the owner's representatives to address any final concerns or questions
